Bad news for Bill and Hillary Clinton: Former Clinton Labor Secretary Alexis Herman has to pay more than $300,000 in legal bills after being cleared in an independent counsel's investigation.
A special judges' panel ruled today in Washington that Herman failed to show that she would not have incurred the expenses anyway in a Justice Department investigation, as required for reimbursement under the Ethics in Government Act.
"Tuesday's ruling does not bode well" for the Clintons, United Press International reported. The former first couple have asked the same panel for reimbursement of their attorneys' fees for the Whitewater scandal.
The Clintons owe between $1.75 million and $6.5 million in legal fees, UPI says. Though they are multimillionaires, "They've never given a personal dime to any attorney that represented them," as former adviser Dick Morris has noted.
Thanks, Janet
Herman asked for $335,919.52 in attorneys' fees. The panel awarded her $12,625.75, the cost of her legal fees to respond to the independent counsel's final report, which would not have occurred with the investigation ordered by Janet Reno's Department of Justice.
The department received an allegation from an African businessman that Herman, when she was a "special assistant" to Clinton, tried to trade her influence for money for personal use and contributions to the ever-dicey Democratic National Committee.
Reno, then attorney general, claimed there was no evidence Herman had committed a crime, but asked the three-judge panel for an independent counsel to clear up "questions."
Independent counsel Ralph Lancaster brought no charges against Herman after a two-year investigation.

Just another piece of the Clinton Legacy!!

I would like to see one of these Clintonista's demand that BillHill either pay the legal bills out of their Library (slush) Fund or they will tell what REALLY went on in the Clinton White House.

Though they are multimillionaires, "They've never given a personal dime to any attorney that represented them," as former adviser Dick Morris has noted. It takes a village to pay the Clintons' legal fees.

Alexis Herman is/was a protege of Jesse Jackson. Apparently he didn't teach her well enough how to work the system.

. . . or they will tell what REALLY went on in the Clinton White House. That will never happen - most of them aren't interested in assuming room temperature in the near future.

The only Federal money I want to see go to Bill Clinton is the cost of a M-16 and a one way ticket to Israel. I would also give him a shovel so he can dig a fox hole---but he will have to find his own bullets.

Herman was damn lucky. Since she was Clintn's appointee, she HAS to be DIRTY. Who else would work for those scums? Only another scum.

The one I'm most interested in, (besides Hazel O'Leary), is Maggie Williams. Hillary was almost teary eyed once, discussing poor Maggie's big legal bills. Oh how she loved Maggie!! I think she's now working for Senator Clinton, but I want to know more about her husband, who during the last Clinton years, became the first American chief of Interpol. This was never made a big deal, but it sure should have been to my way of thinking, and I've had no luck retrieving his name through google.
Back to Hazel. She and Rubin were real cozy with Ken Lay back during the early 90s, and all over India, slepping for Enron, trying to get India to let Enron to build power plants.

Clinton's attorney will reduce or drop his claim against the Clintons for performing legal services, if the government isn't going to pay those legal fees. This payment request is merely a ploy to reward him for his steadfast support -- all at taxpayer expense.

Herman has it piled high. She made a fortune at the end of the Carter Administration by starting a company then cashing in when Rev Jimmy doled out a huge grant to it.

Hazel is also responsible for slackening security requirements at Los Alamos, making it easier for the Chinese spies to infiltrate. Then, when she left office, lo and behold, she took a position on the board of the company who got the contract for Los Alamos security -- who increased their profits by downsizing the number of personnel involved in monitoring the lab.

The Clintons owe between $1.75 million and $6.5 million in legal fees,... "They've never given a personal dime to any attorney that represented them," as former adviser Dick Morris has noted. Right. And they never will!
And if the lawyers are smart, they won't press the Clintons for any of the money, unless Uncle Sucker somehow pays it. They won't press, that is, unless, they want to end up in the bottom of a swamp chained to some cement blocks or lifelessly staring up at the bottom of a cannon barrel is some remote park.

Thank you very much for that link. How do you do that? Very interesting reading.

You may remember how Herman, representing Clinton on the floor of the Senate in his trial, made much hay of her being a black woman in a chamber with no blacks and a handful of women.
Couldn't have happened to a nicer demogogue.
