August 7, 2002 -- WASHINGTON - Top Pentagon officials were warned last month that longtime ally Saudi Arabia is an emerging enemy of the United States and a backer of terrorism, sources said yesterday.

The Defense Policy Board, a group of intellectuals and former senior officials that advises the Pentagon, was urged to recommend targeting Saudi oil fields and financial assets if Riyadh refuses to do more to fight terrorism.

Don't really think we needed so-called "intellectuals" to tell us this. Too bad our government can't or won't see it!

Saudi Arabia is the land in which every child is taught wahabbism, i.e the intolerant brand of islam. It is the financial backer of radical muslim mosques and groups in Britain and France. That's enough to consider that Saudi Arabia IS a genuine enemy, it is the most profound root of Islamist terrorism.

Fifteen of the 19 terrorist hijackers on Sept. 11 were Saudi, but Rumsfeld dismissed the possible connection.

There better be a very good reason for this stupidity, otherwise we may yet lose this war. Our leadership now has an ironclad reason to seize the Saudi Oil Reserves, yet they stick their heads in the sand.

Why are we Americans still giving the Saudis money for oil when that money is being utilized to fund the war against us ?

...now tell me what is new in this statement. Everyone knows that the most of perpetrators are from Saudi Arabia(15 out 19 on 9/11),also in the past most of the terrorist attacks were made by saudi born terrorists.
In all honesty I have not seen a whole lot of Iraqis, Iranians, Lybians etc., but a bunch of our "FRIENDS" of saudy descent! Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, what's wrong in this picture?

One thing comes to mind...say...beware of your friends, I will take care of the enemy!

No sense in changing suppliers now, looks like the neocons are building support for seizing the Saudi fields next. Should make Lay a good job, managing the middle east oil fields until we can get "democracy" up and running in the region

Not to mention SA support for some 80,000 madrassas (muslim schools where only their "religion" is taught)in Pakistan alone - thousands more across the globe.

"One enemy at a time. Iraq's first."

Yep. Methinks this leak was consented to by Rummy et. al. Let the Saudis know we know. Meanwhile, work with Putin on Russian oil. There is a long term plan in place. 2004 will be critical to making it happen....

This was intentionally "leaked" because our state department is too cowardly to warn Saudia Arabia themselves. It's an around about way to get them the message that they are very close to being added to our list of terrorist nations.

JIDDAH, Saudi Arabia –– Saudi Arabia has made clear to Washington – publicly and privately – that the U.S. military will not be allowed to use the kingdom's soil in any way for an attack on Iraq, Foreign Minister Prince Saud said Wednesday.

Get a clue. Powell (whose positions I DO NOT agree with) nevertheless is secretary of state and must say these things. Our Sec States from TRUMAN to REAGAN said the same things about the USSR, even when REAGAN called the Soviets the "evil empire." There is a reason we have a separate department of state and department of defense (war).

>>Why are we Americans still giving the Saudis money for oil when that money is being utilized to fund the war against us ?<<

Especially since we discovered it, developed it, marketed it, and still transport it and protect it.

Our claims are actually much stronger than most people believe.
