I don't get it. It would seem that this would lend some credence to the idea that the masses under the theocratic rules in the ME would welcome and assist in the overthrow of the regimes we have identified as dangerous and that they suffer under everyday. It would potentially lend some support to the idea that there could be a popular uprising in Iraq against Saddahm if we can lend a hand.

We should be trumpeting this news, and doing anything we can to help the people of Iran in taking back their country from the theocracy.

The lack of coverage is mysterious.

Iran is filled with people who love America. On September 12, 2001, vast crowds in Tehran lit candles and grieved with our shocked nation. One reason for this affection is the hatred their ruling mullahs hold for the USA. A pundit I loathe said in a rare moment of insight,

Iran wiped out most of that generation in its eight-year war with Iraq. At its end in 1988, the Iranians were down to unarmed teenagers, which the mullahs sent in waves against Iraqi border emplacements where they were used as human shields for the few remaining armed and trained Iranian troops who followed behind.

The legacy of the war with Iraq is an Iranian population in which two-thirds of the Iranian population is under 25 and where the average age of the mullahs who conducted it is somewhere around 75.

Most of the generation of students who launched the revolution are dead. Their children view the revolution as a catastrophe that killed their parents and has stolen their freedom.

Perhaps, the God who took down communism so recently is working to discredit islam. We can pray so!

Interesting how the media completely refused to go after Gore, when it was learned he was brokering arms deals between Russia, and Iran, behind the backs of Congress.

We cannot help. As much as the Iranians hate their regime... if any faction were to call America an ally they would lose all suport from the populace. America has been villified in the middle east for too long for perceptions to change quickly.

This is why the people in countries whos gov'ts have good relations with the US, hate us the most. All middle Easterners have contempt for their gov'ts. Our best bet is to stay out of it. People want freedom, but not if it comes with the US's help.

As the saying goes.."You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink."

Well, no, it's not. It's very easy to understand.

The liberal mainstream media have concluded that in a War on Iraq, the biggest losers will probably be the Democrats. Their solution to this problem is to bend heaven and earth (not to mention the truth) against the waging of such a war.

They are doing everything they can to mobilize public opinion against a War on Iraq and to bring as much political pressure as possible to bear on the Bush administration.

Publicizing a revolution in Iran suggests that Bush's approach is not only the wisest, but that it is winning. And when Bush (and the Republicans) win, the Democrats lose.

The media can't bear such an outcome. So, they ignore the events. It's as simple as that.
