Very very odd thing.

I was listening to NPR the other night and they were actually whining that the Enron investigation was taking too long.

A sure sign of an exposed jugular?

"I wouldn't hesitate to call him if we can prove that there's anything to add to our investigation," Lieberman added,

how can you prove it if you don't call him?

lieberman is protecting more than his own ass no this one.

Dear sidebar moderator

A key Senate Democrat said on Wednesday there was a possibility that former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin would be called to testify on Capitol Hill about his knowledge of the demise of Enron Corp. .

Republican Sen. Peter Fitzgerald of Illinois, a member of Lieberman's committee, wrote to Lieberman this week suggesting that Rubin be invited to testify along with Sanford I. Weill, chairman and chief executive of Citigroup.

This is new news. No?

You pulled off of breaking news within 1 minute.

c'mon man.

Gimme my 15 minutes...wahhhhh

Citibank held obligations of Enron that would plunge in value when the rating agencies downgraded Enron's credit. Rubin sought secretly to have the government lean on the agencies not to tell the public their honest evaluation of the credit. Many investors rely on these agency ratings in deciding whether to invest. Rubin was seeking to hold up the value of the Enron obligations until Citibank could dump them on an unsuspecting public - unsuspecting because Rubin would have prevented or delayed a true credit evaluation. Now for all the democrats' hypocritical whining about republicans and business, no republican official, not Bush or Cheney, did anything improper. Rubin did something very reprehensible. He sought to corrupt treasury officials and the rating agencies and thereby perpetrate a fraud on the public. Needless to say, Joe Lieberman sees little need to look into real wrongdoing on the part of a democrat.

Rubin is slicker than Slick Willy. Whenever he testifies before Congress, they come out looking like fools.

Trouble is, Rubin joined Citi on 10/26/99, so unless we know when the sham transactions were penned, Rubin just may be clean.

We're going to now look at what we know about any involvement
Bob Rubin had and whether calling him would be constructive.

If anyone expects a couple of guys named Lieberman and Levin to investigate another guy by the name of Rubin concerning fraud they're in for a disappointment. It won't happen.

This means that the Democrats have gotten their stories together and are ready to "perform" before a live audience.

Take my word for it Joe, it would add a bit of credibility to your "investigation".
