Notice how the DC police say drugs, gangs, and prostitution are the cause of the increase while the mayor blames the economic downturn and "guns".

Part of it may have to do with Democratic Congressmen from CALIFORNIA too.

Police say a proliferation of drugs, gangs and prostitution are to blame and officers are being redeployed to better target crime areas and the places that have seen the greatest jumps in violence. THe DC police is the most corrupt one on Earth, with in 2000 alone 2000 disciplinary actions out of 3000 cops. With crime rates in the department that high, what can we expect. GUns? I don't think so. Crooks and Morons' for sure.

There also aren't any drugs, either ... totally illegal. Ditto prostitution. Gangs may still be permitted under freedom of association. We'll have to close that one down.

Where guns are banned, crime skyrockets ... and guns are blamed.

I thought that Calypso Louie and his Fruit of Islam [bowtied goons in shiny suits] were going to clean out all of the crime in DC. I guess the homies scared them off. Most certainly they have run all of the cops off of their turf.

Another success for "gun control"...

Guns, gangs and drugs blamed for surge in murders in nation's capital No, No! They're got it all wrong! It's George W. Bush's fault! Sheesh!
To: Oldeconomybuyer
Williams said the economic downturn and easy access to guns Mayor Williams is an ass. No resident of DC, who is not a member of the protected elites, can in any way shape or form legally obtain any handgun. Anywhere. To call that "easy access to guns" is positively Orwellian.

Police say a proliferation of drugs, gangs and prostitution are to blameCouldn't be a proliferation of drug users, gangsters or prostitutes, now could it?
Typical Associated Press drivel - blame inanimate objects for causing crime.

Would be more factual to say drug WAR and not drugs.

-blame inanimate objects for causing crime.***If you check the statistics, I'm sure you'll find nearly 100% of the crimes committed had clothing and footwear connected.
It could be a footwear problem of immense proportions going undetected. There's a distinct possibility that banning footwear could virtually eliminate crime.

They're got it all wrong! It's George W. Bush's fault! I agree with your statement, in that Bush has to accept his share of the federal government's responsibility for continuing to encourage violence among black marketeers by driving the markets for weapons, mood altering substances, and sex underground.

There's a distinct possibility that banning footwear could virtually eliminate crime.Or, better yet, if the gubmint would just provide everyone with really good, expensive footwear, and high quality leather starter jackets, crime would cease to exist. Yeah, that's the ticket. ;^D

What would you expect of a city that has the highest concentration of congresscritters in the country?
To: Oldeconomybuyer
"We're now trying to understand the culture of the gangs here in the city,"
said Carolyn Graham, the deputy mayor
Takes your breath away, doesn't it?

"We're now trying to understand the culture of the gangs here in the city," said Carolyn Graham, the deputy mayor responsible for most of the city's human services programs. This statement is exactly the kind of insane bull $hit that will drive this nation into a pit.
