I agree with the sentiment, but remember...there's no such thing as a bulletproof vest. No body armor in the world will stop all bullets...even the body armor the Army and Marines wear is designed to only protect against shrapnel and low-velocity ammo, like pistol rounds. Any medium or high powered rifle round will punch through a vest like it was aluminum foil.
Maybe I'm a wacko, but I believe the phrase "bullet-proof vest" has been intentionally ingrained into our national psyche, so that whenever a cop or soldier is killed while wearing his vest, anti-gun scumbag Marxist reporters can scream "...see?!? We have to keep people from getting these cop-killer bullets...there's no protection from them...", while in fact, any regualr rifle round will do the trick. A couple of days ago, a US soldier was wounded by small arms fire in Afghanistan, and the report we got from ABC was that the round must have passed through an arm hole in his "bullet-proof vest". I wanted to find the closest reporter and strangle him/her.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
This is true, but if it provides them with some protection, it's better than nothing. It is very sad to see American personnel sacrificed at the altar of political correctness and cheap labor for greedy businesses.
