It wouldn't surprise me. We were all impressed with a smart bomb going down a residential chimney 12 years ago...

"if it is true" LET'S ROLL

Not trying to be argumentative, but the southern no-fly zone is actually the one that is closest to Baghdad.Check this out.

...They suspect that Saddam is playing the same fog-of-war game as Washington, so as to put them to sleep and then catch them unawares. Yeah, right. Dream on. When the move against Iraq happens, it will be like sh*t through a goose.
To: Mad_Tom_Rackham
We couldnt get Saddam last time... what makes anyone think our goals will be different this time, with respect to killing the guy?
To: greggy
very doubtful.

I thought the Saudis wouldn't let us use their bases to to wage war with Iraq. Well, not publicly.
If this article is true, it describes a good strategy. Not known to many is that Clinton bombed Iraq all through the late 90's, IIRC, but there was very little attention paid to it.
I'm not defending Clinton, but I'm saying that there would be no lack of precedent for taking out various targets there thoughout the years.

Well, my understanding is that we (= the coalition) wanted to leave him in power last time, ostensibly as a means of preventing an islamist takeover of Iraq. Methinks that post 9-11, the risk of allowing SWaddam Insane in power, in a position of unleashing chemical/biological/nuclear weapons against the West (through proxy fighters), is too great. I agree with the current proposition. He should be "replaced", the sooner the better. He could have been killed the last time. He will be killed this time. This is of course only my opinion.
To: ovrtaxt
That was quite impressive. We should do more of that, but in Saudi Arabia, which is also our enemy.
To: Mad_Tom_Rackham
I agree. But it makes me wonder why we are not ready to attach Saudi as well at this time. Useful idiots?
We could use the oil cut-off as a signal to develop alternate sources.
To: greggy
Oh Debka, if only you were right this time...
To: Dog Gone
I like that phrase.

It may be possible. Unlikely though. Any piece of electronic equipment puts out an electronic signature. All you'd have to do is lock onto it with some sort of guidance system. Afte all a heat seeking missile locks onto the radiation on the Infra-red spectrum why not find a way to lock onto frequencies in other spectrums.

it makes me wonder why we are not ready to attach Saudi as well at this time. Agreed. But it seems that diplomacy is generally conducted at an imperceptable level, except for the pronouncements that are intended to pacify the masses. I think that the message you mentioned has already been delivered loud and clear behind the scenes. The Saudi's have few friends since Sir Lawrence left town, excepting the corporate oil interests. And they really don't care who runs the country, as long as the oil flows west.

Doh! I've been Debka'd...

Also agreed. However, the Saudi family may be our best choice of useful idiots at this perilous time. It could be worse, what with all those Islamic fanatics there beaming with pride. And they are. Trust me on this one.
If there isn't a lot going on behind the scenes, there damn well should be.
They got to destroy the entire WTC and come out smelling like roses. This shall not stand.
To: greggy
Debka is actually reporting on an trans-probablity extra-dimensional space. They actually do a terrific job of getting the alternate-facts straight. Its just a shame that it bears so little signifigance for our own spot in the space-time continuum.
