To: Cincinatus' Wife
It has been known for a long time that Venezuela is providing a staging ground for FARC guerrillas to make incursions into Nothern Colombia, as well as a refuge for them to run to when things get too hot. Things may well get even hotter now that Uribe is president and is not willing to "compromise," another word for letting the guerrillas take over a large part of Colombia's national territory. Sounds like Chavez (with his FBL) is getting set up to make this situation even worse.

One certainly cannot blame the local populations, either of Colombia or Venezuela, for contracting with mercenary armed forces for protection.
