Who was the last good Democratic Secretary of Defense?

The last Democrat was not Cohen, he was a Republican. The last Democrat was Les Aspin, who resigned in disgrace after Black Hawk Down (thereby showing more character than most of that administration).

Jimmy Carter's SecDef probably lasted a full term, but who remembers his name? And before that it was Robert McNamara!

Yes. Hillary Regina is running. But not in the conventional head-on contest with Al Borg.

The slime machine she and Bubba Rex ran from the White House has been ported over to the McAuliffe DNC and HELLPAC...uhhh, HILLPAC, and other instruments.

Oh-eight is too late, for a host of reasons: Deteriorating and aging intelligence files from her former position, a media slowly getting used to a Republican chief executive, a fragile 'coalition' of race baiters, class warfare experts, et al. Mostly, though, just a raw will-to-power which must be exercised sooner, rather than later.

She has to make maximum use of the complicit media ASAP. Look for other media undermining of potential opponents. A key component of any Kremlinological analysis and understanding of her efforts will be the back door attacks on Al Borg...which we should see before long.

HR will, in the background, promote a male contender against Al and settle for a 'draft' into the VPOTUS slot.

The coming propaganda blizzard will put the memory of Goebbels to shame.

Blessings on Freepers Everywhere.

"And, just like no man would sleep with her now"

She has Janet Reno, Patricia Ireland, and Andrea Dworkin to keep her warm.

Let's never forget the FBI files.

We have always looked at the Pubbies (>1,000) files that the Clintons had access to.

I've also always thought that Hillary has the goods on all her Dems also.

Her possible competition for the Presidency. Other top dems that she has to control for support purposes....etc.

I would bet a donut that is where the Sharpton info came from, i.e., those files!

Someone, please explain to me how Hillary's fellow Democrats will see her as more presidential? I do not understand what they mean by this statement. Are Hillary's people holding brainwashing training classes or what?

If the economy is slow, if the war goes badly or haltingly in a non decisive way, she has a good shot.

If she holds off until 2008 and doesn't have to run against an incumbent GWB, she'll have an even better shot. I doubt she could beat Dubya in '04, no matter how bad the war/economy might be. And she's cunning enough to not want a failed presidential bid on her record. She'll wait until '08.

And if she won, it would tear this country apart in ways we can't even appreciate. It would be the worst thing the republic has ever seen.

If she won, it would be the end of the republic. The country barely withstood the first eight years of the Clinton regime. It wouldn't stand a second go of it.

How old is Hillary now? 56? Let's see, she'll be 62 in 2008.

Not sure people will go for Old AND ugly.

'...she's cunning enough to not want a failed presidential bid...'

Precisely. The VPOTUS 'draft' gambit is the ideal environment for her Bubba Rex machinations:

1) She and her 'obligated' POTUS front man lose. It's HIS fault and she can come back in '08 at the head of the ticket after four more years of viscious back room politics against any rivals. She would be a net better fund raiser (Gag!) for the VP slot exposure and the ability to foist the failure on someone else is a Clinton hallmark.

2) She and her front man win. Inconceivable to me, but with the American analogues of the 1960's Pravda, Izvestiya, Krasnaya Zvezda and others in full battle cry, the propaganda blizzard plus voter fraud plus the hidden blackmail compromising the Republicans, etc., it could happen. In that case, then unleash the hounds of Hell...uhh, Hill, on POTUS behind the scenes and step in after the resignation, impeachment, Vincenzo Fosterini effect. Failing that, run in '08 for POTUS anyway.

3) If she ever succeeds at any of this, we will pine for the days of Bubba Rex. Gott Behuete!

Blessings on Freepers Everywhere.

61 is not too old to run,,as a matter of fact I think the last two presidents were too young. Remember how hold Reagan was. And if there is a prayer of her winning in 04 she will go for it, someone upthread mentioned her raw political power tendancy and I think that will propel her. Now I think her big competition is Kerry, he is the only one who can win. McCain can't , Gore can't. And I don't see Hill going for vp unless she knows it is a loss. We can only wonder what could happen in the next 6 years,,Bill can continue to humiliate her and get her more votes in the process. Chelsea can succumb to La Dolce Vita and ruin her mothers rep as mother of the century. And Hill herself could reap what she has been sowing. I think alot of people despise her and can't or won't say so and who knows who will get sick of it and tell all. Plus I think meaness and hatefulness makes people sick, I really do. Maybe , bless her heart, she will get some terrible illness.
