Setting the Record Straight (Again) for DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe

Statement by RNC Chairman Marc Racicot
August 10, 2002

WASHINGTON - Governor Marc Racicot, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, issued the following statement today responding to Democrat Party Chairman Terry McAuliffe's speech at the DNC Convention in Las Vegas:

“Once again, I am mystified by Chairman McAuliffe’s reckless political rhetoric and disregard for the facts. Such attacks, as those made today in Las Vegas, are a disservice to our political system and our President’s efforts to bring all Americans together to deal with our nation’s most serious issues. Americans deserve a more thoughtful and sincere debate between the parties.

“Democrats continue to attack on grounds of fiscal responsibility, yet they have unfortunately proven unwilling or incapable of passing a budget for the first time in almost 30 years. Without a budget our government is forced to operate without a blueprint for needed fiscal discipline during this difficult time.

“There is a basic but fundamental distinction between the two parties that I must clarify. Republicans believe that lower taxes on individual Americans sets our nation apart from much of the rest of world and helps ensure our future economic success. And we believe the best way to grow our economy is by fighting for lower taxes, on businesses small and large, because they are ones that create jobs. Democrats believe that Congress should take more of your money so that Washington can create jobs. It has been said many times before, but you cannot be pro-jobs and anti-business.

“This year, unfortunately, we have watched as certain Democrats, in their zeal to gain political advantage, wrongly place blame anywhere they can, and yet fail to act on vital legislation that would aid our economy. Their reckless attacks serve nothing but their own partisan aspirations. The American people are not fooled. Americans trust our President and approve of his aggressive efforts to address our economic needs, the war on terrorism and the security of America.

“Mr. McAuliffe did not mention today that the House of Representatives has passed important legislation that provides prescription drug coverage for America's seniors who need it, pension reform to provide retirement security, and a department of Homeland Security to strengthen our hand against the war on terrorism. And that Senate Majority Leader Daschle has been unable or unwilling to pass all these bills.

“While President Bush seeks the perspectives of a broad spectrum of Americans to address the serious issues which will determine our future economic success, I call on Chairman McAuliffe, Majority Leader Daschle and Minority Leader Gephardt to put naked partisanship aside and once again make the American people their first priority.”

PhiKapMom, this is a good response. No mention of Clintons, you will note. Very smart.

It is my opinion that Clinton wrote McAuliffe's speech. Several phrases were lifted from President Bush's acceptance speech at the Republican Convention. They are trying to bait President Bush...along with Ms. Clinton angling for an invite to the ranch.

They are up to something, I am sure.

Let's cut Terry some slack here. My opinion is that this was nothing more than a DNC call for continued bribes from the big interests in the areas he talked about. The DNC can take all sorts of cash for votes/influence, wash the money and then distribute it to democrat senaotors and congressmen in the form of things like below market loans. Other bribes can go to trusted lobbyists who will then distribute the payoffs to the appropriate senators without fear of disclosure. Some lobbyosts have special immunity and would not ever disclose incomes strerams, as reported in a tax filing. The senate is an especially good place for democrat dishonesty because anyone (democrat, that is) eventually charged there, would simply get a modest admonition and go on with his evil ways. No, Terry was just announcing to the world that, despite the efforts to keep businessmen honest, democrat filth, corruption, and bribery would continue as normal. Between the lines, of course, is the promise that the media will continue to downplay or not cover any aspect of the bribe givers or bribe takers.

I lost the Take Back the Senate/Keep the House ping list when my computer crashed and I am trying to resurrect it.

If you want on or off this ping list for our new campaign for Take Back Congress.org soon to be launched here on FR, please let ffrancone or myself know. I know I have missed a lot of people that were on the list, so please ping anyone you can think of that wants updates on key Senate and House races so they can be added to the list!

Thanks!

Except where he says, "...put naked partisanship aside..."

That's code for, "Tell Clinton to mind his own business."

They are definitely out to bait! Heard this morning that the Colorado Senate race is turning very nasty by the DemocRAT. I have a hunch this is going to be the norm across the Country.

Sincerely hope their negative campaigning is going to backfire on the DemocRATS when our candidates have commercials that are factual and dispute the attacks like Chairman Racicot has just done.

Clintons are behind everything mean and nasty that is going on by the DemoRATS IMHO! McAuliffe is nothing more than their puppet!

Good response - but it does need broader play on the media.

Every word from McCaulliffe's slimey mouth is being dictated by Hitlery Clinton.

We need to:

Get money to the people who can run counter ads.

Get active locally

Get people registered who will fight the slime with their votes!

Thanks for the ping! Marc's response was excellent. Very measured and factual. The opposite of mcauliffe's clinton-written and approved hate-filled, lie-filled diatribe. We really must unite in this fight to overcome the lies of the left. Voting has never been more important. We should not spend our time with infighting. We should gather together and win.

No doubt the Clintons' dirty fingerprints are all over this, as well as the other stuff McAuliffe has been spouting lately.

I trust the President will keep his cool and now allow himself to take the bait.

Nice post and yes, put me on your newly found ping list. I've gotta run to the bathroom, FOX just played parts of Osama bil Clinton's speech, as read by Terry (Global Crossing) McAuliffe, chief democRATic ethicist. I'm feeling ill.
