It's raining men - and white ones at that. Deborah Hornblow reports from the United States on the latest trend in American film.

With last Friday's US opening of the new Clint Eastwood movie Blood Work, one thing has become incontrovertibly clear. The American summer of 2002 will be known as the "season of the white boy" at the nation's cineplexes. It opened with Spider-Man and The Sum of All Fears and has subsequently serviced every beloved boy genre save perhaps the Stand by Me coming-of-ager. Summer 2002 was for bigger boys, men who grew up playing cops and robbers and G.I. Joe in the backyard, men who had difficult fathers, men who went to sleep reading The Lone Ranger and action comics.

Oh, Lordie save me. Every year with the same friggin’ whining. Usually from liberal guilt-ridden whiteys, like Deborah Hornblow, trying to impress their cleaning woman their sensi-freaking-tivity towards the plight of the downtrodden minorities (“Umm… Carmelita, you missed a spot… I just wrote an article, by the way, about the difficulties your people face in Hollywood. It’s for a newspaper, which is a collection of writings that people read each day. What’s for dinner?”)

Parts for minorities - including blacks, Asians, Pacific Islanders and Latinos - dropped from 22.9 per cent in 2000 to 22.1 per cent last year.

Minorites (non-whites) comprise 25% of population of this country. They get 22% of the film roles, even with that tragic 0.8% drop in the past year. This is hardly the type of disparity that should engender such angst.

In fact, who but a liberal whitey or a hustling black activist would even take the time to crunch those stupid numbers? Who the hell else gives a crap what color the dumbass diving over a wall in slow-motion shooting never-ending bullets from two blazing guns at the same time is?

Maybe, as a movie reviewer, she should be more concerned with why so many movies suck, rather than the skin color of the crappy actor reading the same old lame predictable script.

Hmmm. Another race based article. Elections must be approaching and need to rekindle divisiveness. Watch, the pressitutes will run more of these in the coming weeks. Gotta keep the hate alive to coincide with the Rat ads to follw...

The contempt this author shows for "white" people and "men" is disgusting. Despite major victories for african americans at this year's academy awards, this radical left blowhard( named hornblow) is most comfortable pelting us with outrage over the plight of Minorities in Hollywood, instead of affirming the accomplishmnets already made.

I am filmmaker working in Hollywood, why doesn't she come out here and write the movie she wants us to see. Instead, she sits in her ivory tower, milking her precious alienation, waiting to be served "entertainment", which inevitably falls short of her racialist requirements. Spike Lee borrowed the money from his mom to make his first film. You don't want white movies, start writing and filming your own, and save this self-righteous victimology for the college newspapers. You don't need white people to patronize you to make a good film! Get off the cross HORNBLOW, we need the wood!
