Bankrupt fiber optic network operator Flag Telecom has received subpoenas for documents as part of a Securities and Exchange Commission probe into Global Crossing Ltd. and Qwest Communications International Inc. , the company said in an SEC filing on Tuesday.

The SEC also wants to interview Flag Telecom officers and employees in its investigation of Global Crossing though no subpoenas for testimony have been issued, according to the filing.

"To date, Flag Telecom has cooperated fully with the SEC's request for such documents and it intends to continue to cooperate in the future," the filing said.

Flag Telecom did not elaborate on the information sought by the SEC. Global Crossing and Qwest are under investigation by the SEC, Congress and other federal authorities for accounting of contemporaneous swaps of capacity on their networks.

Additionally, the New York State Attorney General's office has issued a subpoena to Flag Telecom seeking documents as part of its investigation into securities firms, including Citigroup Inc.'s investment banking unit Salomon Smith Barney and some of its analysts, according to the filing.

Flag Telecom said it would cooperate with those requests as well. The Bermuda-based company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April and has said it hopes to emerge as a restructured company in October.

"We're cooperating fully with the investigations that the SEC is doing," Becky Yeamans, a Global Crossing spokeswoman, told Reuters.

A spokesman for Qwest was not immediately available for comment.

"We are cooperating fully with their inquiry," said Arda Nazerian, a spokeswoman for Citigroup.

That name just sort of leaps off the page, doesn't it? In fact, these names show up over and over - so much that you can just cut and paste from one article to another.

Where do I apply for a job wrecking a company?

Grubman! I missed that. Investigators have it made now. All they have to do is see which companies the Grubster was touting.

Lovely chart, isn't it? 'The Grubster', as you so nicely phrase it, has got some 'splainin' to do.
