Likewise, states with high tobacco taxes are finding they are actually losing tax revenues.
To smuggling, and internet sales.

Bloomberg's anti-smoking ban will actually provide incentive for New York residents to emigrate from the city, possibly the state.
Thus, even more loss of tax revenues.

Just don't expect us to bail NYC out when they can't fix the streets and municipal buildings.

The downtown Minneapolis restaurant, Park Cafe, that caters to breakfast and lunch for office workers used to do great business. Since they've gone smoke free they've had to cut their hours. They close at 2:00 in the afternoon now. They used to be packed with customers all day. Now there's always 30 or 40 extra seats available.

Buy them on the Net and be done with it. No tax dollars for the Nazis. Of course, they're going to figure that out but not after losing one heck of a tax revenue. It's always the same with this sort of thinking; you keep the taxes reasonable then people really don't care. Why find cheaper prices on the Internet or with smugglers. It's no big deal. But in their own ignorance they go out and think that they're doing a good thing without ever coming to the final conclusion that they're, well simply stupid and aren't thinking at all.

my family and i had been considering, despite ridiculous room rates, etc.,
spending the 9/11 'anniversary' in NYC.

that option is no longer on the list.
if NYers want to elect another fascist/moron, that's their right,
but this household certainly won't be supporting their decision with our travel $$.

It looks like some in the media are beginning to realize where this anti smoking fanaticism can lead.
