"Maybe I am missing something, but were there explosives found in his shoe, or was he hoping that the rubber would spontaneous explode? How can someone lighting a non-burning rubber sole be considered terrorism rather stupidity? You see a stupid teenager, I see a terrorist (the father), using his son to test the response of the people on board. I.E. are there Air Marshalls on board, is it possible to do something like this and have enough time to "do the deed". Passing little things like this off to stupidity is going to get us all killed.
On second glance, I missed the whole "test the waters" angle. My appologies, I am not defending this kid and his dad/handler, just stating that really that can't be classified as terrorism, but certainly is something, as you point out, to remain vigilant about. I'll admit that if I had seen this kid doing what he was doing, bomb or not, he would have been quickly tackled.
Hey, we can fairly agree to disagree on this topic, I don't claim to know every hidy-hole in Toronto, only it's overall character and composition. I hope that we won't see any terrorist activity originating from Toronto, or any other city for that matter. Vigilence is key.
