The Washington Post ^ | Thursday, August 15, 2002 | Lori Montgomery

During the past week, senior Democrats in Maryland and nationally have been pressing Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend to hire a veteran campaign manager to turn around her faltering bid for governor.

On Tuesday, Democratic National Committee Chairman Terence R. McAuliffe spoke to Townsend and offered help in luring a seasoned professional to her political team, a senior Democrat said. And on Sunday, Maryland Gov. Parris N. Glendening (D) expressed his concerns about the campaign during a meeting in Annapolis with Townsend, his political partner of eight years.

I think that we should get a list together of all of the stupid and awkward things that KKT says. Like the quote after Elijah Cummings spoke the other day and the "I like it when they got a football and then we came back and got a football". We could create some pretty funny posters.

Yeah, I saw that article in the NY paper. I don't understand how people outside of Maryland think that this woman is God's gift to the Democrat Party when she can't even tie her own shoes without 20 handlers. Oh yeah, she is a ....(light from Heaven, with Angelic voices singing)Kennedy!

Every time KKT opens her mouth I get a lower regard for a Harvard education.

BREAKING NEWS!
KKT's campaign is in trouble. I have heard this from an insider in her campaign that doesn't know that I am a conservative republican. LET'S GET OUT THE VOTE! WE CAN REALLY WIN THIS THING THIS TIME AROUND. They are worried she might not even make it through the primary. Lets break the back of this politcal fraud using the Kennedy name once and for all. Besides, she really is not up to the job.

Who in the world is going to defeat her in the primary? While that would probably be a bad thing for Ehrlich, I don't think it's going to happen.

It is nice to see KKT struggling, but I'm still worried that the black vote (a full quarter of MD's voters) that she's supposedly struggling with is going to come home to the Dems in Nov. I hope Steele draws a significant percentage away from her, but realistically I think Ehrlich/Steele just need for the black vote to be unenthusiastic for KKT.

"Terence R. McAuliffe". Hmmm, has Terry decided to stop acting like a thug?

I love it when the Dems have to throw a ton of extra resources at campaigns that at one point seemed to be no-brainers for them.

Even if corruption prevails and KKT wins, the extra money and advisors coming to MD might help the GOP in some important House and Senate races that might have otherwise been better funded by the Dems.

I've got the same problems as Yahoo! and a million other websites---Web ad revenues have trickled down to almost nothing. Cartoonists don't come cheap. If someone can figure out how I can pay the cartooning costs, I'm all ears.

But, she said, the campaign could have "several helms. And I am happy to have somebody new at one of those helms."

What an unbelievable statement!

Well, actually, considering the source, it's apparently very believable ...... I should have said "What a total dunce!"

I think Ehrlich/Steele just need for the black vote to be unenthusiastic for KKT.

I think that's a real possibility. Steele is Black (ok, the Blacks will call him an Uncle Tom), and KKT picked a white Republican man as her running mate. And she didn't consult the Blacks before doing it. She hasn't lost Black support, but if that isn't taking them for granted, I don't know what is.
In a state like MD, what possible advantage could she get by selecting a GOPer??

And her campaign slogan is "infinite destiny". Does anyone have any clue what she means by that???
