On Mike Gallagher's radio talk show this morning, there was a woman caller who said she would like to see Hillary! become president because (1) she's honest and (2) all she's done for children and education.

Beam me up, please.

Only a democommie president would sell the chi-coms (for campaign contributions) the technology they need to nuke his wife's best shot for being elected (ie, the SF/LA/NYC blue zones)

One of hundreds of examples: I was debating a liberal democrat on a message board many moons ago (when clinton was still in office). I cant recall exactly what it was about, but somewhere along the line he claimed that the President votes on bills, and the congress signs them. I pointed out to him that he had it completely backwards. That the congress votes on bills and the President signs (or vetoes) them. The liberal called me an idiot and said that I didnt know what I was talking about. I assumed that I was debating a ten year old, so I looked up his member profile, and was stunned to find myself debating a 57 year old guy.

A more recent example, just earlier last month. Yet another liberal posted the claim that Bush was an idiot, when several posters challenged him, he posted the "Presidential IQ" hoax as his proof, assuming it was true. Several posters then challenged him on the accuracy of the article. He came back with: "Write Ms. Borenstein at the Bakersville News Service and ask her for her credentials, and whatever else you wish to know. Ask her for the address of the think tank. They did the complilation. Find out from them. Do some research. Read first."

NATURALLY, I couldnt resist this one and posted the following from truthorfiction.com:

This was written from the fantasies of someone who adores Bill Clinton and doesn't think much of George W. Bush. The "think tank" is not identified and there is no such service as Bakersville News, a reporter named Jennifer Borenstein, a sociologist named Werner Levenstein, or a psychiatrist named Patricia Williams involved in any such project. Rich Buhler, the founder of TruthOrFiction.com and a former member of the news media says, "Take it from me. This eRumor was not written by anybody who has ever been a professional journalist. The style betrays the hoax as much as the misinformation."

I never received a reply. :-)

Anecdotal evidence: I know two gun owners (who each own more guns than I do) who are also yellow-dog dimocrats.

No, I don't understand it.

I was debating with a RAT about the situation with our failing public schools. The RAT's position was that it was "our" fault and we needed to throw more money at the public school system. My position was that throwing money at a problem generally doesn't help much, and that one concrete thing we could do to help the situation was throw out the troublemakers who disrupt the learning process of students who want to learn and the teaching process of teachers who want to teach, and do physical damage to the schools. Some of the "discussion" went like this:

RAT: We need to help the schools do better. They're failing...
ME: Okay, but why are they failing?
RAT: Well, for one thing, the buildings are falling apart. They're all torn up and broken down.
ME: Who did that?
RAT: Well, some of the students...
ME: Maybe we should kick them out, then?
RAT: (Pause, deer-in-the-headlights look, then...) You're a racist!

IOW, the usual outcome. The conservative wins the debate, and ends up being called a name (racist-sexist-homophobe-whatever).

Take a look at some of the Talk Back threads http://www.aintitcoolnews.com that are political in nature for true idiocy. There's a current one on Dennis Miller where some just started to bash Bush and Enron, after jumping in (and kicking butt), someone tried to "prove" that Bush was corrupt by re-printing that stupid letter from Michael Moore! Wow, there's genius for you.

"Torch" Goin' Up in Smoke

"Veteran election forecaster Stuart Rothenberg says at least one Senate Democrat incumbent now appears likely to lose his seat in November: New Jersey Sen. Robert G. Torricelli. . . . The New Jersey Democrat appeared to be cruising toward a second term until he was 'severely admonished' by the Senate ethics committee for taking gifts from a wealthy businessman seeking favors. "

'Torricelli is at or below the 40 percent mark (in polling), with his favorable-unfavorable ratings in the tank. Any incumbents with those numbers at this point in the election cycle is on political life support,' Mr. Rothenberg says."
