[history]
The National Education Association is suggesting to teachers that they be careful on the first anniversary of the September 11 attacks not to "suggest any group is responsible" for the terrorist hijackings that killed more than 3,000 people.
Suggested lesson plans compiled by the NEA recommend that teachers "address the issue of blame factually," noting: "Blaming is especially difficult in terrorist situations because someone is at fault. In this country, we still believe that all people are innocent until solid, reliable evidence from our legal authorities proves otherwise."

Excuse me! Has the NEA lost its collective brain..................Why did we go into Afghanistan? A leisurely journey, right, NEA?
In my opinion this calls for a major FReeping!

This article makes me want to puke. I'm so enraged that I can't phrase my words in a more elegant fashion. Sit in the corner, teach. Bad move.

Blaming is especially difficult in terrorist situations because someone is at fault. Breathtaking profundity here. For anyone with more brains than a houseplant it's not particularly "difficult."
I'm as skeptical at the worth of the internment camps as anyone, but I really don't think that refusing to blame the Japanese for Pearl Harbor is a rational response.

"Muslim groups applauded the NEA's efforts, saying the critics' statements are centered around 'an anti-Muslim phobia.' "Exactly which "Muslim groups" are those, I wonder?
Three seperate studies, one by the US, one by Germany and one by Britain concluded that bin Laden and al Qaeda were responsible for the attack. This is fact. All 19 hijackers were Muslims. Radical extremist phychos, yes...but still Muslims. This is also fact.
So, if the NEA really wanted teachers to approach 9-11 "factually", then the teachers should put the blame for 9-11 on a group of radical Muslims backed by al Qaeda and Usama bin Laden...'course, this isn't about approaching anything "factually." It's about brainwashing and changing history.

"In my opinion this calls for a major FReeping!"I'd like to see a grassroots backlash against this coming from the teachers themselves.

Question: Which president just gave the NEA an $11 Billion over & above its normal bloated budget? Clue - he asserts to be a conservative.

after the NEA received hundreds of calls from parents shortly after September 11 asking the schools to help their children understand what happened."
The NEA is a labor union. Why would parents call a labor union concerning this?

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- A large archive of al Qaeda videotapes obtained by CNN in Afghanistan sheds new light on Osama bin Laden's terror network, revealing images of chemical gas experiments on dogs, lessons on making explosives, terrorist training tactics and previously unseen images of bin Laden and his top aides. The archive includes 64 videotapes that span more than a decade and provide new insight into al Qaeda's planning, tactics and mindset. Nearly all the tapes pre-date last year's September 11 terror attacks. But one tape includes recorded segments from televised news reports of the attacks on New York and Washington, including CNN coverage.

I teach science and geography to 7th graders.
I already informed my principal that my classes will be watching the memorial ceremonies on television. Since one of the teachers at our school is still waiting for the body of her son to be recovered,(90th floor, 1st tower) we do not anticipate any PC nonsense.

Good grief.
This is most pathetic thing I've ever heard.
If I were a "normal" teacher who paid dues to the NEA, I would revolt and never give them another dime.

I can't believe the NEA is telling teachers not to blame the guilty party for 9-11.

Well, that's all I need to know! This means that it is against America and the ideals we hold dear.
I will NOT allow these ISLAMAZIS to dictate education in MY COMMUNITY!
Thanks ISLAMAZIS! Now I am getting involved in my community's education...even though I do NOT have kids! No footholds for THESE scum!

There were cases in some school districts where teachers told their students not to use the word "terrorists." Now, anyone in their right mind knows 911 was caused by terrorists, i.e, evil bastards. Just who the hell are these teachers to censor students???? Their parents use the word "terrorists" in describing 911. Who are these people to go over the heads of parents?
