[history]
About 1,200 mink were released from cages at the M. DeMuth farm near Waverly over the weekend.
The incident is being investigated by federal, state and county authorities as an act of possible terrorism by militant animal-rights activists.
A Bremer County sheriff's spokesman said Sunday that the owner of the farm was trying to recover as many of the animals as possible.

These "animal-rights" Nazis either don't know or don't care that minks in the wild claim about 25 acres or so for their territory and they will defend it. I heard about a bunch of minks being "liberated" and because they encroached on each other's natural "territory", they killed each other off.

Many of the mink die if they are not recovered because they cannot live in the wild, farmers say. How cruel! The vandals who do this must really hate animals. I don't understand how anyone could want animals to die slowly and painfully.
And of course, the entire ecosystem around the farm would be upset by the sudden introduction of all these predators. The vandals who did this must not understand the delicate balance of nature and the importance of protecting ecosystems from outside interference.
Shame on those vandals!

More ALF foolishness.
To: wallcrawlr
IS there more to the story? I noticed you put ALF in the title page but it does not say anything about them in the story.

I hope they catch the terrorists and put them in prison where they belong, for a long time.

When the "animal rights" people did this in England, the minks didn't "die slowly and painfully". They were hit by cars, shot by farmers and killed by family dogs immediately.

It was reported as ALF on the radio up here in the Twin Cities, this is the quickest source for the text I could find.

The link you provided also had this story:
DAVENPORT
Man sent to prison for torturing kittens
A Davenport man has been sentenced to two years in prison after he shot two kittens and burned them alive in a barrel.
Christopher R. Woodworth, 39, also was fined $600 and ordered to pay $752 in restitution. Woodworth pleaded guilty to animal-torture charges July 9 in Scott County District Court.
Authorities say Woodworth shot the two 12-week-old kittens in the head with a pellet gun and then placed them in a burning barrel. One of the kittens survived.
The kittens belonged to a neighbor.
Police searching Woodworth's garage found live traps, a pellet pistol, a bootlace tied into a noose, and graffiti that read "Cats 0, J IIII."
Woodworth also goes by the name Jake.
SICK PEOPLE!!

The poor weasels ... hope they get the weasel(s) who did this. Setting them lose was a foolish act. &;-)

You capture my sentiments exactly. Can these enviro-fascists be that ignorant that thye do not realize what these animals will do to the environment?

Any word on how much the minks were/are worth? These little terrorists start getting shot for their crimes and they might think twice.
To: wallcrawlr
If this stuff was all the enviro-wackos did with their time, I'd send 'em a few bucks. I'll bet a few of them survive and that's better odds than they'd get at the skinnery.

Life has a 100% fatality rate. They're all gonna die eventually. And animals raised in captivity have very little in the way of survival skills and generally die very quickly. This is theft and vandalism, but they'll never be prosecuted. But it's better than the time these ALF pinheads freed a bunch of rats from a communicable disease research center. Too many animal "rights" activists are morons, and too many people cheer them on.

Stealing is okay? Maybe I can come up with some reason that cats shouldn't be held in captivity...and then I could come to your house and steal your cats? Makes about as much sense...

...graffiti that read "Cats 0, J IIII." This guy should be shot in the head and secured in a burning barrel. Having said that, I feel justified in laughing out loud at the psychopathic graffiti bit.

If they're doing it in Iowa, they may try to hit our area again--you know, one last ALF swing before the fall semester starts.
Of course, if they do try, they could end up with a face full of buckshot. Mink farmers have had it with these guys and have put in security measures...including double-barrelled shotguns.
