I Am No Longer A Conservative
Toogood Reports ^ | August 21, 2002 | Cuck Baldwin

At one time, I was proud to call myself a conservative. No more. I would even argue that conservatives are as much responsible for the political and cultural deterioration of our country as liberals. That means Republicans share as much blame for the downward spiral of our nation as Democrats. People who believe they are voting for a substantive change of direction by voting for either major party are kidding themselves. Both liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, are heading in the same direction.

The pattern goes something like this: Democrats (liberals) use the power of political office to spearhead socialist, internationalist policies. This is accomplished over the vocal objections of grassroots conservatives. The resulting dissatisfaction with the liberal agenda usually translates into Republicans being elected to public office.

Once Republicans (conservatives) are in office, however, they do nothing to reverse the socialist policies that the liberals instituted. Instead, they set about to normalize or legitimize those policies. After all, Republicans are all about conserving the status quo; and for the past 40 years, the status quo has been incessant, burgeoning socialism. Therefore, instead of instituting a radical return to constitutional governance, conservatives actually harden the cement of socialism that has been laid by liberals.

Unfortunately, rank and file conservatives seem more than willing to accept an increase of socialism, internationalism, and liberalism as long as Republicans are overseeing it. Conservatives seem totally oblivious to the ominous direction of the country when Republicans are in charge. As a result, conservatives and liberals, Democrats and Republicans, are working together to take America further and further down the road of socialism.

With little distinction from Democrats in the actual governing policy of Republicans, liberals are soon reinstalled to public office, and the cycle repeats itself. This has been the redundant pattern in our country for the past half century.

Therefore, as someone who stands foursquare on the principles laid down in our founding documents, I refuse to be identified as a conservative any longer. Instead, call me a constitutionalist. I am convinced that the only chance that freedom and independence have of surviving the next 50 years is by a radical return to constitutional government. The status quo must go!

Only an awakened electorate who are fed up with the constant capitulation of constitutional principles by the two major parties and who are willing to courageously crusade for genuine change will be capable of actually preserving this republic for their posterity. Anything short of this will only result in a continued drift toward socialism and globalism.

Sorry, but "Cuck" is off base here.
It has nothing to do with socialism or internationalism or anything like that. A very large portion of the chattering class is weak. They are parasites. They will vote for the scumbags who offer them the most "free stuff", and they couldn't care less that the money to pay for the "free stuff" is confiscated by big government from their neighbors under threat of jail, loss of home and business, etc.

All that matters is "free stuff". The Democrats win. Through their lies and class warfare rhetoric they have managed to create a society of parasites, thereby ensuring their positions of political priviledge. The numbers don't lie - - there are now way too many parasites, and they cannot be reasoned with, and they cannot be weaned off of "free stuff". The Democrat scumbags have absolutely no compassion or sense of honor in any of this. They will destroy traditional America and its families without a backward glance, because it is all about their selfish lust for political priviledge and power. Their careful nourishment of the parasite class is merely the means. It's quite a scheme, actually. And the nation be damned.

All the poor Republicans can do is attempt to win in districts where taxpayers substantially outnumber parasites. Maybe do a little redistricting to try to spread it around. The blue and the red.

That or simply play both sides against the middle by being "Democrat-lite".

It's over. It's just a matter of how long it takes the swirling liberal Democrat toilet to finish us off.

Sorry.

(Of course, there will eventually come a time when some people who are backed into a corner will fight back, big time. Picture Zimbabwe with a second amendment and lots of guns.)

If I decide to disconnect from the Republican Party, and I am more and more inclined to, I shall register to vote as an independent. Since I see our country heading into socialism, rapidly, the best way to describe my politics is Capitalist. So that's it: I'm an Independent and I'm a Capitalist. When brows are furrowed, I'll ask my friends if they have any questions. If I'm asked if I'm really a Libertarian, I will say "No--I'm a Capitalist." It's kind of in-your-face and affords the benefit of starting a conversation on the right track.

Nothing personal cluck, but I have serious doubt that you were ever even remotely close to a conservative.

...All that matters is "free stuff". The Democrats win. Through their lies and class warfare rhetoric they have managed to create a society of parasites, thereby ensuring their positions of political priviledge...

Pow! Right in the kisser!

You nailed it. After FDR started the slide into serfdom and then 40 years of Dems controlling the House of Reps, they finally got what they wanted. The have a nation of Gimme-more's. The receivers range the entire spectrum, mega-companies, contractors, farmers, states, districts, schools, individuals, on and on. The Liberals could never win elections by ideology, ever. But they can win by buying votes. FDR initiated the machine and LBJ put a turbo on the machine.

The Repubs in DC get slammed for being Rinos yet it is a legion of piglets who clamour to suck at the government teat that defines their actions. As P.J. O'Rourke said in "Parliment of Whores", when it comes down to it, we are the whores and Congress is only following orders - sad, but true.

Alas, I vote conservative and republican to stave off the rate of government largess. I suggested ten years ago, that if the Repubs took the House, Senate and White House, that they would be more fiscally reponsible but the size of government would not change. But, more imortantly, I vote to the right for the selection of the judges. After all, it was the idiots in the Supreme Courts that allowed this mess to happen.

Unless someone or some group comes up with a magic arrow to shoot down the Leviathon, it will consume us. I hoped that the folks who were trying to demonstrate the illigitamacy of the 16th amendment would prevail. However, if they do, they will probably be ignored!

The baby boomers are going to start retiring in eight years, that great sucking sound coming from Washington will be Medicare and Social Security; beware.
