Global, indiscriminate amnesty? No, of course not. But what about the many illegals who have been here for years and have been hard working members in the lower echelons of our capitalist structure. I think there should be some way of helping them to assimilate legally, after thorough background checks, etc. I think many of these people could become valuable, hard working, right thinking, American conservatives, having laid hold of the American dream from the roots so to speak, and working themselves up from the bottom. This is still the great promise of America and we should not forget it.

Otherwise, we run a risk of abandoning them to the liberal nannies who want to scoop them up in their arms and coddle them, creating a whole new dependent class of voters that will ensure them a power base, which will surely lead to the destruction of this nation as we know it.

No amnesty for any illegals. That's like giving a bank robber $100,000 for his trouble. You can't reward breaking the law, and illegal entry is just that. No amnesty for illegals and no more legal immigration for 5 years. Assimilation and English required.

Do you not understand that we are a sovereign nation with laws? I don't understand how you can condone the illegal invasion. It means the end of America as we know it, and you're giving it a pass. Think in the long term, not in the short. Furthermore, look at trends and voting patterns. You're hoping for the best when there most likely isn't a good outcome in the condoning of illegal immigration.

been hard working members in the lower echelons of our capitalist structure

What will the illegal who was in the lower echelons do for a living when they are turned into legals who must be paid minimum wage and benefits? Their employers won't want them and will "need" to replace them with more illegals. Making an illegal legal doesn't give them English ability or job skills or an education and without their lawn mowing job how can they make a living for themselves and families?

There is a way!Send them back to their native country ,along with the application forms for becoming an American citizen legally.

They are already there. Just because they take advantage of the capitalist system and start business, make money, doesn't mean they don't at the same time, partake of the taxpayer's money. These people are not ignorant of the ways of the American system of rewards for nothing. They take advantage of both.

No, I don't think anyone who has broken the law to come here should just be allowed to stay. That only encourages more.
