I would call her a hypocrite, since that is exactly what she is. How is it OK for someone else to defend her, to place their life on the line, because she's chosen to be vulnerable? This is saying that she values their lives even less than her own.

Oh, it's *much* worse than that.

This woman says that she won't defend herself because to do so would COST HER SOUL, and that "when we meet darkness with darkness, some of that darkness enters and stays inside us."

She doesn't just value the cops' *lives* less than hers, she values their *SOULS* less than hers. She would call them and let them "lose their souls", and for the "darkness" to enter them, JUST TO KEEP HER OWN SOUL CLEAN.

This isn't pacifism, this... I'm not sure there's even a word for something so selfishly vile as this.

But it's not just about you, lady. At 15, your child is still under your care.

1 Timothy 5:8, "But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."

Provision includes protection.

Good point. This woman is the most self congratulatory bimbo I ever heard from. I think she is totally unaware that she is saying she would sacrifice her life, her innocent child's life and the policeman's soul for her little vanity. Somebody page the baby's dad so he can sue for custody now.

Dear Pam, (writer)

Please put a 2 X 4 foot sign in your front yard saying "This House Has NO Guns".

(See if it makes you feel safer,,,)

Plus, as you think about it, the only solution for her current angst, seeing as how she is a noble lady with a clean soul, is for her to dispatch the baby to the dad post-haste, notify the darkness she is alone, and refuse to put the cops' souls at risk and just go to heer reward knowing all the love is going with her. I am laughing so hard I can't type. I think we need to email her and her paper and let her know,,I mean we all surround her with love and want her to just embrace all of it.

I had just moved into a new apartment here in Boulder that day and was starting classes at CU after a year's maternity leave. My baby was 9 months old and had just taken his first steps. The world seemed full of possibility and promise.

Where's the father? This female is stupider in more ways than one.

I don't share her choice, but the piece acknowledges the legitimacy of others making different choices and acknowledges the hypocrisy of depending on others for protection. I don't find the piece stupid therefore.

I couldn't disagree with you more. What if her reliance on others cost her baby's life, a life she is duty-bound to protect by values that are too basic to even express without seeming trite? What about the future victims of these two thugs who may have been spared their misery if this woman had acknowledged her duty as a citizen to prevent crime? What about the enormous encouragement value that criminals get knowing that so many of their potential victims have the same kind of childish mentality as this mewling piece of garbage? If all it takes for evil to triumph is good people doing nothing, well, this idiot did nothing.

Breathtaking stupidity.

As far as I know, every organism on earth is equipped with the desire to protect it's own life. I find it hard to believe that it can be eradicated by the influence of some whacko professor. Methinks this is the only way she has found to deal with the trauma...an she should seek help.

Beyond that, if she is so adamant about "placing her good above other`s", then why would she expect the cops to do it for her, death by cop thru her phone dialing finger instead of her trigger finger, whats the difference? No, if she is serious about her "principles", the next time she needs to let them kill her. Then this story can be captioned, Darwin at work.

Break into my house at night, and your next-of-kin is going to have a difficult time confirming your identity.

If I ever do have to dispose of this type of human waste, I know that it isn't going to be pretty, it won't be pleasant, but it will morally justifiable and will not put my immortal soul in danger.

But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. - I Timothy 5:8

"Easily concealed guns are loathed and feared by two specific social groups [...] Criminals and politicians prefer disarmed victims."

Is that really two groups?

I can't say what I think about this worm posing as a human being. I'd be banned for at least three different reasons. This is what comes from people making up their own religious precepts.

****Do not read while eating****

Well I had just finished my meal so I figured I was safe. I had just finished a nice cob salad. It was a very satisfying meal. Then I read this story. My meal now sits like a cold dead fish in my innards. I ain't given it up but this story certainly ruined it. I shoulda listened.

I don't believe a word of this. Read a similar tale a few days ago. Looks like the MMM are using a new strategy to forward their agenda.

While I might have kept myself physically safe by shooting those men, I would have been placing my life and happiness above theirs.

The article seems to describe someone with that Stockholm syndrome where they begin to identify with their captors and begin to take their side. She might have been rescued from rape but it sounds like she wouldn't have minded being raped too much.
