"Commerce Secretary William Daley left Friday evening for Latin America with 19 U.S. corporate executives on a U.S. business-development mission focusing on information and communications technology, environment, and energy. Among the 19 executives are . . . Terrence Thorn, executive vice president of Enron. The mission will travel for eight days to the Southern Cone countries of Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile. The key issue in that region is the privatization of power companies, not just at the federal level, as in the past, but now at the state and local levels, according to a Commerce Department official. In addition, the mission will look at ongoing and new opportunities in cross-border oil and gas pipelines."

Like Infamous DNC Fundraiser Johnny Chung, Enron Also Donated To A Charity For Clinton Energy Secretary O'Leary. Chung said that a Department of Energy official offered to arrange a meeting with Secretary O'Leary for a Chinese businessman "in exchange for a $25,000 donation to Africare, a charity support by O'Leary." Similarly, after O'Leary included Enron officials on her trips, "Enron showed its gratitude. At Christmas 1995, documents show, it donated an unknown sum of cash in O'Leary's name to a charity called 'I Have a Dream.'"

Enron "Seemed To Purchase" Seats On A Clinton-Era Overseas Trade Mission. "In 1995, a $100,000 check from Enron to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) seemed to purchase some highly coveted seats for Enron executives on an overseas trade mission led by then-Commerce Secretary Mickey Kantor. Earlier, Enron Chairman Ken Lay accompanied the previous commerce secretary, Ron Brown, to India. Mr. Clinton instructed his chief of staff, Mack McLarty, to help Enron obtain a contract to build a power plant in India, for which the firm received $398 million in U.S. taxpayer assistance. As a business owner, I used to be aghast that any money from business would go to the RATS, who were always in the business of attacking capitalism...but when you calculate in the number of businesses who are paying off the Feds to keep them outta their hair and those who realize that a Corrupt Man like EX-POTUS Bill Clinton can make you a great return on your dollar by wantonly Abusing his Power, it becomes understandable!!

There was something about the clintons/gores at their 1992 convention that gave me chills. I can remember being told to give them a chance -- well my Mom and I didn't give them a chance and sure enough right after he took office it was gays in the military and it went down hill after that. With all that I thought I knew of their corruptness of them and their minions, I was not prepared for the huge amounts of money involved which to anyone that thinks would immediately have the words bribe or shakedown pop in their brain. Someone is horribly wrong with these press corps when they have turned a blind eye to anything the clintons/gores have done. Don't know who they can face themselves in the mirror unless they are part of this corruption (which I wouldn't doubt BTW!) Have a great weekend!

I clearly remember something on FR that talked about a connection and I seem to recall the company went belly up (i.e. filed for bankruptcy or something). Does FR have any of that in its archives. Cautor, in some of the excellent and informative replies on this thread, there are many reminders of how inter-connected the Clinton administration seems to have been with Enron-India deals. But I didn't see anything which links the polling company, TeleQuest, to India or the Enron power plant they were building there.

Maybe I'm missing something, but remember: According to the articles which I first posted on this thread, it was Lieberman who arranged for TeleQuest calls to go out to Florida voters on election day. I'm sure the Democrats have many polling companies they use, TeleQuest is just one of them. Yes, TeleQuest happens to be in Texas, which I guess could get your Enron juices flowing, but other than that, I haven't seen any connection between TeleQuest, and the cozy relationship Enron had going with the Clinton Administration, via Brown, Rubin, and O'Leary.
