Zimbabwe --Mugabe dissolves cabinet in shock move

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe dissolved his cabinet today in a surprise move that official sources said was linked to a government drive to seize white-owned farms.

Mugabe, who has vowed to press ahead with the land seizures despite resistance from farmers and growing criticism abroad, will announce a new cabinet on Monday, a government statement said.

It gave no reason for the move by Mugabe, who has ruled the southern African country since leading it to independence from Britain in 1980.

"His Excellency, the President, Comrade R.G. Mugabe, today, 23rd August, 2002, dissolved cabinet," said the statement signed by George Charamba, Mugabe's spokesperson. Charamba was not immediately available for comment.

Official sources said Mugabe had summoned his ministers and his two vice-presidents for an unscheduled meeting at his official residence earlier today where he discussed the government's controversial land seizure drive.

"The stories we are hearing are that he expressed unhappiness with the way in which some of his ministers are handling the land issue," one source said.

"I think there is a realisation on his part that legally he was on slippery ground," said Lovemore Madhuku, chairperson of the National Constitutional Assembly, a coalition of civic groups. Madhuku said he did not expect any major shifts in policy even if new faces were brought into cabinet.

"The bottom line is that government policy revolves around Mugabe, and whatever changes we are going to see in personnel will not mean a change in policy," he said. "I think we might see a change in style in some respects but not the substance, and that includes on policies like land," Madhuku added. - Reuters

"When two men think alike", said the businessman, "one of them is unnecessary"

"Oh God, deliver us from the mercantile mind", said the philosopher, "when two men think alike, one of them will make a great scapegoat."

I want to know where Mandella is?

Hard at work licking the extreme lower back areas of every UN parasite in Johannesburg, with extra attention to the Arab delegations.

But you knew this, of course.

Looks like the next step after escaping to yoke of colonial masters is upon Zimbabwe...interminable civil war...someone with guns will soon be after this clown soon, then comes the UN peacekeeping force abortion and resultant genocide then British troops to save the day...then we can repeat the process with the next clown.

Yeah, they could offer him the presidency of the UN, he's proven he's cut of the same cloth.

Good point. What ABOUT Mandella. Let us discuss rights and freedoms. Let us not be selective about whose freedoms they are. "Mugabe" is spelled with a "C" and means communist in Zimbabwe-ese. This is the evidence.

Watch this SOB. He will end up executing these white people.

Not quite, a bloody mob will "arise" and hack them to pieces in the name of "racial justice."

Mugabe will sit back, hoist a toast, and walk out to go look statesmanlike... in his mirror.

And, I'm sure Mugabe's Nobel Peace Prize is on the way too.

Mugabe and his buddies are seizing this property for themselves, not the state. A real commie would steal it in the name of the people, lodge the title in the state, and then obtain private use and control through subtrefuge and manipulation of a Byzantine land use law.

Doesn't mean Mugabe is not a commie, but it does suggest that his current behavior is more in line with the needs of personal greed and not ideology.

Frankly, I am surprised he hasn't begun eating the white farmers by now.
