Pardon the stupid question, but what is it with terrorists and their obsession with beheading their victims? There are thousands of ways to do away with someone. Why decapitation?

Not a stupid question. I had a discussion about this and one of the things we came up with was some medieval notion on part of the jihadis about the soul being seperated if the head was cut off.

Islamic texts do make references to beheading unbelievers and apostates.

In Kashmir, they've also absconded with the head in numerous cases. Maybe stored in some abattoir like mosque along with all the other purloined heads.

Perhaps they have learned that this method gets more press. Terror is the game.

Simple - These are 13th century wannabes - reliving the experiences of their forebearers.. And, following the text in their murderous and intolerant "holy" book.

Until America recognizes that the Islamic world is full of these murderous fanatics -- we are doomed.

America - alone if she must - must destroy massive numbers of these folks and destroy multiple major targets to convince these bastards to "back off"..
