Africa: The redistribution of whites' property is supposed to benefit landless blacks.
MAZOWE, Zimbabwe -- Grace Mugabe came here last week, but her visit had nothing to do with promoting literacy, health care or any other official duties that come with being Zimbabwe's first lady.
Instead, Mugabe came to personally evict white farmers John and Eva Matthews, a septuagenarian couple who own the sprawling 2,500-acre Iron Mask Estate.

And Grace went on to explain at the press conference. "I was named after a figure who did not gain prominence to years after I was born and am the smartest women ever to exist in my country"
"Good golly, I do wish I could force you to bow. One can only dream and pray that propaganda will someday work."

You know it must be bad if even the LAT has to concede there is a problem.

}She and her husband need to hang.
What I don't understand is how the people (both white and black) can sit still so long without full scale revolution, and "what goes along" with that. I've been to that part of the world and it is truly beautiful, and rich in natural resources including farm land. Met Ian Smith years ago after his ouster by the Brits. That was not a shining moment for Maggie Thatcher, mostly pique, and was the beginning of the end for all Southern Africa.

Freepers interested in seeing what Southern Africa was REALLY like before the current mess might like to read
Southern Africa in the 1980s. Lot's of good pictures and links too.
