Lot of support for the anti smoking crew here at FR. I don't think conservatives are what they used to be.

Hell of a lot more smokers than Homosexuals yet the AIDS lobby and homosexual union lobby etc etc etc get all they want
most smokers don't vote and probably don't even know who the governor is
Most of the ones that do vote probably yank the democrat lever

Internet sales of cigarettes are booming. Lots of new customers from Indiana, Michigan, and New Jersey.

Good article. But...
It also singles out a small percentage of the population...The percentage of smokers in the USA is higher than the number of black people living here. Smokers should scream "discrimination!"
FYI, I'm trying to quit the habit.

Everyone is aware of the health risks associated with smoking. There are also dangers associated with eating meat, sugar, soda, saccharine, milk, eggs and cheese. All of these products are simply one of the many choices that consumers make to enhance their own perceived well-being and comfort. But we don't see a smear campaign against meat companies or massive taxes on their products. The sun is a Class A Carcinogen. Are we going to ban it to?

Darn! Well, how about we just:
A. Legalize marijuana.
B. Tax it at $1/gram (about $25/oz.)
C. Sell it at Walgreens and Osco.
:-)

But we don't see a smear campaign against meat companies or massive taxes on their products. Coming soon: trial lawyers attack against "Big Meat"

It's not so much that the politicians don't understand economics, the most important thing to them and the"scare-de-cat"public is to control other people's lives.I just hope someday something awful will happen that NO LAW can protect from and the anti crowd will be helpless to stop.Something that only the anti-freedom bunch will be upset about.
