Oh, probably because the police would have shown up 10 minutes late, his car would have been destroyed and the perps wouldn't have been caught.

Actually, usually in New Orlenas, the police there either give the approval or disapproval to the criminal to finish the crime if the local officer gets a resaonable cut of the action.
