Since I am a loyal listener of the brilliant Michael Medved, and since I don't have a t.v., I've never seen Sean Hannity's t.v. show or listened much to his radio show. But tonight, for the fun of it, I went to see Sean with three other girlfriends (a few with major crushes on the man) at the Screwball (Skirball, whatever) Cultural Center in Los Angeles.
People were lining up before 7pm, some with books already in hand to be autographed, and, as we stood amongst the 300 or so loyal conservative fans I looked around at the new museum, not far from the Getty, and considered that we couldn't find a much more liberal place to meet.
Sean Hannity didn't say it, but I will: it was truly a sign of the times that in a building, funded mostly by screeching liberals and Hebrew Union College, a conservative talk show host was declaring loudly that we had to stop the liberals in order to protect our liberty, as well as praising the great President Ronald Reagan. And the place was packed.
The two things he said which really struck me: That while President Reagan was facing the Evil Empire head on, Daschle, Gephardt, and Gore were getting busy voting for a nuclear freeze. And that therefore they are nada. AND #2: That Bill Simon needs to put it on the line the way Reagan did, and, for example, come down loud and clear against giving driver's licenses to ILLEGAL immigrants.
Two of my friends voted for Gore in the last election. As far as I know, they may still be in line, hoping Sean Hannity will sign their "Let Freedom Rings" books for them up at the Skirball.
Am I the only one who thinks Sean Hannity's Clintoon impression sounds more like John Travolta?
Michael Medved is full of it. Probably the most closed minded person on the radio today.
If I can ask, on your thread ('cause I didn't see another comparable thread) - did any San Francisco Bay Area FReepers see Sean at the Commonwealth Club, Monday evening, Aug. 26th in San Francisco? If so, how was it?
Hannity is just so-so and Limbaugh is all style over substance.
You're right. I don't think Limbaugh does near enough research. And on those few occassions when he reports on something I know about he slants the story in a way that makes me uncomfortable. Sometimes I'm sitting at the breakfast table reading the LA Times and he comes on and starts telling his listeners about the same story that's right in front of me and he deliberately leaves out important facts. Other times he quotes stories I've read on Drudge the night before without any mention of where the information came from. In find him entertaining at times. He could make a living as a standup commedian. But I don't trust him anymore. My favorite for the last five years or so has been Larry Elder. Sharp as can be. Honest. I have never felt he was lying to me. And best of all he's really funny.
Simon already stated in late May that Californians had no business even suggesting Proposition 187 let alone passing it. Thus far his history has been the status quo on immigration. Don't hold your breath until he has collected all his moderate ethnic votes.
I agree.
Cinnamon Girl: I do not like Medved. Is my opinion is now concidered trolling?
Duh! What do you think "their own cause" is? Capitalism, which is individual freedom, under law, that allows people to work hard and keep what they earn. What do you think "hard work" means for a radio and TV personallity?
Perhaps you think that we all should pay a government tax, so Rush and Sean could talk about capitalism and individual freedom on a Government radio station. Then they wouldn't have to work hard to pay the bills.
FEDERALIZE THEM!
whoops, too late.
except for the one and only originator of 2 way talk radio, the GREAT BOB GRANT. Now, Let's be heard.
