The Clinton Audition for a Hollywood Career (through his presidential policies favoring Hollyweird)
LA TIMES ^ | 8/28/02 | ON TV / BRIAN LOWRY

Posted on 08/28/2002 3:22:42 AM PDT by Liz

May 2: News reports say Bill Clinton is in preliminary discussions with NBC to host a daytime talk show, which would pay the former president millions.

Aug. 21: News reports say Bill Clinton is in preliminary discussions with CBS to host a daytime talk show, which would pay the former president millions.

Given that interval, expect to hear rumors about the former president hosting an ABC companion to "The View" around Dec. 10, then another flurry regarding a Fox late-night show (perhaps paired with Jillian Barberie, to attract that younger demographic) in late March.

Despite skepticism that such a deal will ever happen, the idea of Clinton raking in millions thanks to his mastery of television hardly sounds far-fetched--especially if you take into account show-business folk's almost comic infatuation with the political class and Clinton in particular. Sure, executives hobnob with movie stars, but most approach Clinton like giddy schoolkids.

Not far-fetched, either, because on a fundamental level, the Clinton administration has already earned every penny--the man from Hope having granted studio moguls just about everything business-wise they could have hoped for.

Just think about it. "At Home With The Clintons" reality TV would have been a smash. There's the contrite lip-biting president and the upwardly striving intern who make a bargain with the devil - job for sex. The First Lady also has plans....man does she have plans.

Then there's the odd-fellows supporting cast of Clinton hangers-on and sycophants characters, Reno, Carville, Begala....and don't forget Osama bin Laden plotting in the hinterlands.

Woulda given The Osbournes a run for their money.

Bill will sign a multi-million dollar deal. It will sit for ten years in development... and then be scrapped.

"Just think about it. "At Home With The Clintons" reality TV would have been a smash."......ashtrays and lamps flying about the room. And Bill sitting watching the tube staring at a different version of "Blaze" starring Janet Reno!

Given Billyjeff Clinton's great greed, and even greater ego, he'll probably strike a deal with some network that is dumb enough to hire him. The prompt crash and burn of Phil Donohue, however, ought to give any network pause about hiring yet another bloviating leftist as a new TV talk show host.

Of course any network executives considering hiring Clinton have to have their ethics surgically removed at birth. Fortunately for them (unfortunately for the viewing public), almost all of them are ethical geldings.

As much as I despise writing about Clinton (him or her), this subject demanded a word or two. Click the first link below for some sardonic laughter. And click the second one to get the bad taste out of your mouth afterwards.

Ten years in development......will take that long or longer for the put-upon citizens the Clintons bamboozled to recover.

The only interesting one was Euan, who'd get drunk and rowdy a week after his father announced initiatives against drunk and rowdy teenagers. He's off to university, presumably to get drunk and rowdy more regularly. ;)

That would be funny, because I know Blaze Starr and she would be highly offended if she were mentioned in association with those "W trash". She has way to much class.
