Agreed. If you work a job where the employer might be tempted to put your life on the balance sheet, i.e. coal miners, cops, firemen etc. where they might say "well we think 5 guys will get hurt/killed this year but we can afford the lawsuits" then that industry needs a union.

But as far as teacher's unions, forget it. Abolish them.

Workers vote to be represented by unions because they believe it is in their best interest to be so represented. You will have to convince workers, teachers lets say, that it is actually not in their best interest to be in unions. Good luck.
