You've encouraged me to come out of the closet also.
I to, am a showtune fan, but only those from before the 80s.
We grew up listening to Ethel Merman on LPs as kids (probably considered abuse today).
I got a large charge a few years ago when we went to see 'Annie Get Your Gun'. On the night we went the pugcilious Bernadette Peters was on vacation and we got Susan Luce of soap fame. She did a great job and could really belt the songs out, alas, she was no Ethel Merman.

Not only do I like showtunes, but I have seen a number of Broadway musicals during their first run. This includes Cabaret, West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie, The Music Man, Do Re Mi, and, so I have been told, Oklahoma!. I have also been in a number of semi-professional college, and community theatre musicals.

The point exactly. She was a power groupie, not a political scientist. Think about Katie Couric (your punishment) and try that one again.
