The darkness of the new moon is good for one or two days on either side of it. If it's cloudy three days before the new moon this would be a good night to commence fire. Most especially if the forecast is for clouds the next night too. So for your center pivot December 4th date it has possibilities for December 1, 2, 3, 4.
Obviously better to act in the day(s) before the full moon than the day(s) after
