[history]
Federal prosecutors, under intense pressure to collar Enron's former chief executives, may resort to nailing the well-connected former chairman Ken Lay through his whopping big stock sales. Lay, a personal friend of President Bush, raked in tens of millions of dollars selling Enron stock at the same time he was publicly touting the stock to employees and shareholders.

If Lay is not fully investigated and all cards laid on the table ASAP, the November elections are going to go very bad for the GOP.

Yes,but, OTOH..a string of fall indictments will be a boost for the GOP..Methinks Lay and Skilling are cooked....Look, Koppers, who just pled..will give them Fastow on a platter. That's a given...so Andy, looking at, say, 40 years jail time, will hand them EVERYTHING on Lay and Skilling for a cut in jail time. He's got the goods..no doubt....that's probably been his strategy all along, and explains why he didn't try to negotiate a plea early on.....Fastow probably has notes, files, everything..heck, it wouldn't surprise if if, at some point, tapes turn up...

If the federal government would investigate derivative trading, they'll have to re-open Alcatraz prison to make room for all the corporate evil-doers who sold restricted stock illegally.
ROTFLMAO

[Ken] Lay, a personal friend of President Bush, . . . Is that the same Ken Lay who was a golfing buddy of Bill Clinton?
To: PhilipFreneau
Somebody's got a pic of the Clinton/Lay golf outing. Wish they'd post it.

That's the same Lay Clinton got in the Lincoln Bedroom.
Clinton also got Lay at Camp David, and during the economic trade mission to India.
Clinton got more Lay during the "90s" then Bush did.
The media thinks this isn't worth mentioning because everyone knows Clinton got Lay every where he went.

OMG, this would also lead to an economic debacle....... Not to worry - that's why everyone (Senate, House, SEC, FBI) is doing a "dance" around the real issue.
