Zimbabwe's government is using a policy of "selective starvation" to punish political opponents, enrich supporters and ensure a victory in local elections next month, according to an American researcher who just completed a weeklong visit to the south African country.

remember kosovo a few years ago. At the peak of the ethnic killing in kosovo there were only 2,000 people killed per year out of a population of 2 million. We not only intervened, but we punished serbia with air strikes to destroy vital infrastructure and factories as a result even though 40% of the victims in the ethnic violence in kosovo (2,000 number above) were serbian. But africa is a different story. We have unlimited tolerance for these things in africa. Remember in 1994? even after it was known that every day one tribe was killing thousands of civilians each day of another tribe we still didn't send troops. Within only 6 weeks they killed more than a half million people. Our government knew it was coming before it happened, the news media told us all about it as it was happening, still we did nothing. Then the violence spread to congo, that conflict that started in rwanda in 94 ended up killing I've read more than 2 million in the two countries and stretched up to at least 1999. In sudan they say 2 million have been killed in the war that's gone on for 20 years. Christian charities have had their planes full of food shot down because the north sudanese don't want the south sudanese to have food. in sudan people are sold in open-air markets for $50. the population of africa over-all, the largest continent, is in decline. This type of terrible dysfunctionalism and disorder and conflict in zimbabwe is it seems normal today in about half the african countries.

Yet the enlightened people of the civilized world can only tax and regulate their own economies into the ground and accuse people of being non-pc so that we are too weak and demoralized to do anything about it. Look at the UN do-gooders in south africa eating caviar.

Decades ago we had a country where the knee-jerk reaction out of an awful lot of americans would be to say that if we're going to give them food, then we should have the US army deliver that food directly to the hungry villagers. And we would instruct those soldiers to kill any of mugabe's people who got in the way. We were that sort of a people. Today we accuse those old-fashioned americans of being bad people either for fun or for political purposes.

Don't kid yourselves, our failure to do the right things with regards to these types of issues is merely a symptom of our nation's decline.
