TO: Honorable Dick Mountjoy, President
California Republican Assembly
FROM: Bill Simon Thank you very much for that very kind letter of support that you have sent out to our conservative supporters across California. You have been an inspirational leader for the conservative cause for so many years that it has been an honor to work with you so closely over the last 18 months. Despite the sensationalizing by some of the liberal newspapers, I have not changed my position on any of the important moral and social issues facing California. While the campaign sends out answers to hundred of questionnaires, sometimes they may not be as clear as we would like. So I wanted to take this opportunity to keep you abreast of my deeply held beliefs.
The campaign answers questionaires? THE CAMPAIGN? Who the hell is running for Governor? Bill Simon or some nameless, faceless staffer?

Thanks for the full text and the straight (no pun intended) dope.
The problem, as I see it, with the Gay agenda is two-fold:
1) The covert effort to make a mockery of marriage and family, including the effort to obtain rights of inheritance on an equal status with spouses and offspring.
2) The quest for public money to subsidize an aberrant life-style.
The fact is, you can buy an insurance policy for anyone you want for virtually any circumstance you can imagine. It's done every day. There is nothing being denied by current law.
Encroachment on inheritances is one of the more insidious planks in the agenda (in my estimation.) Preservation of wealth is acknowledged to provide a benefit for one's survivors in the future. The dilution of an estate which would result from a "domestic partner" obtaining rights equal to those of progeny does not benefit the future--it's sqandering. Again, anyone can take out an insurance policy on the life of anyone else. Responsible people do this every day to protect business investments and revenue streams. The demand for rights of survivorship is facetious and destructive.

Yes the numbers may seem unlikely but I do know that most Freepers are viewed in their neighborhoods and among family and coworkers as the "authority" on politics. That goes a long, long way. You are correct.
To: GVgirl
Howdy neighbor. If GV means what I think it means I know you have battlefield experience with the pervasiveness of homosexuality in California and the destructive consequences that accompany it.
Keep up the good fight.

Yo, Dan. Don't bother speculating how Senator Haynes would've answered the Log Cabin queerstionaire (sp?). I sent him an e-mail aksing him my own self. I can hardly wait to read his response.
My guess is his response will be something along the lines of: You're not in my district punk. Leave me alone.

What's with the double posts?
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
I don't know. I click on the little button that says "Post" and after a couple of minutes of nothing happening, I click on it again and it posts.
Must be a Windows thing.

I second that!
But it did have a funny smell and certainly got a lot of reaction!
The people behind this dirty trick are part of the Manure in Sacramento. It needs to be cleaned out of the State Government. Simon is the man to do it!

I will be voting for Simon,I believe he is a good man. But I think it is a mistake not to take a strong stand against a very demoralizing lifestyle. I just hope this doesn't cause Simon to loose the election.

Don't get me wrong. I'll probably end up voting for Simon, too. But it's not a slam-dunk. I was prepared to vote for Bobdole in 1996 even when he disowned the Republican Platform before the ink was even dry. But then he made that crack about the exits being clearly marked. So I took it.
He made the calculation that whatever Conservative, pro-life votes he lost would more than be made up for by votes from baby-killing atheists.
If Simon thinks he can garner enough gay votes to make up for whatever Christian votes he loses, then more power to him. If I can't bring myself to vote for him and he ends up winning. I will hold my tongue for the entire tenure of his Governership.

Okay, I'll bite my own question: Because if Ronald Reagan were to arrive on the polical scene today, he'd HAVE TO RUN 3RD PARTY! Reagan didn't have to deal with issues of domestic partnership or gay adoption. Reagan was a follower of Barry Goldwater. We know how Goldwater departed from the conservative majority about gay issues in his last years, and how he would have voted had he remained in government long enough.
After years of either ignoring or vilifying Goldwater, all of a sudden the news media rushed to embrace him as a courageous conservative icon forced to the center by the modern right.

The reason for the quest of survivorship has a purpose. A same sex partner should be able to give his or her partner their property without family members acting like vultures for their property and contest their wills.

Do you get out of bed? And if so why? You're appear to be already defeated.
Bush won by how many votes?
Did those votes matter?

Whatever Simon says now I'm afraid the damage is already done. It was entirely unnecessary to deliver that kind of response to a marginal RINO group in our party. And its really killed off the enthusiasm of the base. One thing we don't need is politics as usual and being offer the lesser of two evils. Socialism lite is still just as bad as the full strength version. The only difference is under a Simon led GOP we'll just get there more slowly. We need a real change in the status quo and Simon's not going to be the one to bring it about.
To: Texas Eagle
Yup. Reading Simon's answers its hard to see how he's different in the arena of cultural values from the Governor. And we're asked to believe it was all a scam! I don't see how one can square being for traditional values and supporting proclamation of a Gay Pride Day or being for a married couple having children and in the same breath support same sex adoptions. All of which makes Simon a cultural liberal clone of Gray Davis. Sorry but I can't support a candidate who says one thing and then offers to pursue an entirely different set of policies once he's elected.
To: Texas Eagle
I would like to thank the Davis Campaign for giving us a way to flush out most of the Disrupters in the SIMON campaign. I am just glad they did it so early in the campaign.I have been watching Republican campaigns since 1998 in San Diego county. The tactic is always the same. Someone who is working on the campaign finds something wrong with the candidate at the last second in the campaign starts an argument and leaves the campaign hoping other will follow. Same people every time.
Some of the people you would think are conservative are really on the other side and are working to make sure we never get any traction. I have been able to identify quite a few in San Diego County and State wide after this Simon incident.
Thank you Gray Davis.
