I remember having dinner in Belfast on the eve of the Good Friday peace referendum. Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, Mary McGrory of the Washington Post, Mike Barnicle of the Boston Globe and I all sat around the table. We all had our roots in Ireland, and I loved it.

Mary McGrory - A doddering New Society goat whose latest proclamation was that Iraq and Saudi Arabia were equal as immediate threats to the US.

Mike Barnicle - Fired from the Boston Globe for faking sources for a column, lost his MSNBC gig because he can't carry a show, now hosts a local talk show that centers on nostalgia and the Red Sox.

Maureen Dowd - A childless old maid living in incestuous Washington DC who truly believes she has her finger on the pulse of the average American. Lately transformed into Howell Raines golem chanelling his vitriol into a regular anti-Bush columns.

I found a site called www.lyingponds.com that chronicles bias and partisanship, Left and Right, in the newspapers. ClickHere
