Well....you'd expect the initial risk estimate to be "very low" from any bureaucratic organization, wouldn't you? And, at present, it is very low, because only a small percentage of the population has West Nile virus.

Eventually, they'll know whether the virus has to be active for it to cause disease in immune-compromised people. Right now, they're guessing.

West Nile antibodies could show that you had the disease and lived, and developed antibodies, I would think. A man was on the news, and he survived West Nile, and said he is now immune to it. Is this true? Does anyone know?

I heard that some man ate or drank some DDT every day for years to prove it is not harmful to humans. I think that was on talk radio. Did anyone else hear that? Can't be much worse for us than Twinkies or Donuts. Now that is some toxic sludge.
