Clinton Orchestrated McAuliffe Attack on Bush
More evidence that ex-president Clinton is actively working behind the scenes to undermine President Bush emerged this weekend, with the revelation that the wording of a caustic attack on Bush delivered by Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe last month was personally reviewed and approved of by the ex-president ahead of time.
"Ever the master political strategist, Clinton also regularly dispenses advice to Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe, his longtime friend," reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Sunday.
"Before McAuliffe delivered a blistering attack on the Bush administration's economic policies last month, the party chairman had Clinton review the speech," the paper added.
The Clinton-orchestrated McAuliffe address, delivered at the party's Las Vegas convention on Aug. 10, raised eyebrows for the harshness of its rhetoric, which included the claim that the Bush White House had cynically tried to manipulate the 9-11 tragedy for political advantage.
The next day the Washington Post reported:
"Although Democrats once claimed to stand 'shoulder-to-shoulder' with Bush on the war, McAuliffe threw away that script by accusing the president of using 'September's tragedy to explain away' the reappearance of federal budget deficits and saying that Bush had 'cynically made 9/11 the cornerstone of the Republican strategy for 2002.'"
In his Clinton approved address, McAuliffe also skewered the Bush economic record, telling the Las Vegas crowd, "Every time this economic team opens its mouth, markets shudder, currencies collapse and Americans watch their 401(k)s dwindle."
The Clinton-McAuliffe speech even attacked Bush on the scandal front, signaling that the ex-president has no qualms raising ethical questions about opponents despite his own record of wall-to-wall scandal while in office, not to mention his repeated disavowals of "the politics of personal destruction."
"To paraphrase a Republican hero, Mr. President, tear down this stonewall," McAullife railed, in reference to Bush's refusal to approve the release of records from the Security and Exchange Commission's probe into his old oil company Harken Energy.
Another campaign message pushed by Clinton is beginning to creep into the campaign rhetoric of Democrats, the Journal-Constitution said; that a Democratic majority in Congress is the best "check" on the Bush White House.
Presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Clinton touted the importance of a congressional check on Bush on Friday, as she described her visit to U.S. soldiers injured in Afghanistan who were recovering at Washington's Walter Reed Medical Center.
With her husband at her side, Clinton told a crowd at the New York State Fair that President Bush should seek congressional approval before launching an attack on Iraq that could result in more U.S. casualties.
"I have personal faces I can put on this debate, and I want to be sure that the president comes with his arguments and information and evidence and that we debate it, and then as a nation we'll stand behind the decision," Mrs. Clinton advised.
No, they wouldn't dare. Such a repeal would take ratification by the states, and by the time it got out of Congress--even assuming it could; the Senate would be held by the Democrats by a narrow margin, and even the threat of a filibuster would kill it--and was signed by Pres. Hillary!, the continuing drumbeat from the right would kill any chance it had of being ratified.
It would be so easy to connect the dots between Clinton's desire for his legacy, the election of his wife, and such a repeal.
Remember that WJC was never elected by a majority.
Bush is determined to be a "gentleman" and run the country as though B&H never existed. Unfortunately, there are times one must do something one might not feel comfortable with in order to straighten things out and then go forward.
I'm sure Bush has proof and documentation of a whole bunch of crimes committed by the Clintons that we, the public, never even heard about. I'm sure there exists proof of crimes for which the Clintons could spend many, many years in prison or even go on trial for Treason. Some tracking of financial records between the Clintons and China might hang them.
All Bush has to do is open some files to a few intelligent, knowledge and honest investigators and reporters. Vince Foster is one file that comes to mind. Were Bush to do this, he would shut the Clintons up permanently. They would spend the rest of their lives explaining some things.
But Bush won't do anything like this because he is such a "nice guy". Whoever said "nice guys finish last" was certainly right. Because of this, Bush and the USA will finish last once again.
No, I don't feel Sorry for Bush at all. He could stop all this Dem horsepucky tomorrow if he wanted to.
You obviously are in need of rereading the US Constitution. There's no way, such a constitutional ammendment could pass. It takes a 2/3rds majority in both the House and Senate to propose a constitutional ammendment. It then takes 3/4ths of the state legislatures approval to ratify. If you look at the state by state map of the 2000 presidential election, Bush won 30 states. The process of ammending the Constitution is deliberately set up to give the states a maximum amount of leverage over the federal government. Also notice, the power to prevent the ratification of an ammendment is disproportionately held by small states. On constitutional ammemdments, the 13 smallest states can block ratification. The reason socialists hate the US Constitution is that it sets up tremendous barriers to concentration of power that do not exist in other countries.

Apparently the Clinton strategy is to attack Bush from all fronts to diminish his polling. Ultimately, if GW were to stumble badly, I think the Dems would like to replay impeachment on some trumped up grounds just to get even.
Clinton is a man seething with anger and wanting revenge for the VRWC that "ruined" his presidency. He sees the Bushes (the whole family) as standing in the way of the ascent of Brunhillary so he has to go after them in every way possible.
Plus, both Clintons need the politics of personal destruction to access their dual ambitions. It's been their path to power.
And they will stop at nothing to get there.

I've have seen those exact same sentiments....ALMOST WORD FOR WORD......written by some posters AT other posters on this forum.

Tomorrow is closer than you think. The Clintons are skating on thin ice. The Bush Administration's non-response to the Clintons was brilliantly conceived and executed since the 2000 election. Give them enough rope and the Clintons will become more vocal and emboldened. Eventually they will paint themselves into a corner. We are almost there. The war in the Middle East is something the smartest women in the world has to prevent in order to keep any hopes of running in 2004 or later. Unfortunately for her it means becoming the shield for Saddam Insane in America. Once the war begins the Clintons will be put in their place without ever having been spoken to directly by Bush.

Bush may be able to act a lot better to stop all this but it is a huge uphill battle.
Well, maybe the AJC thinks Clinton is a "master political strategist," but the truth is I don't think McAuliffe's speech played too well with the reading and voting members of the public. As Cynthia McKinney found out, the reading and voting members of the public are sick of this cr*p. I hope that this news of Clinton "masterminding" that hit speech gets out to LOTS of people.
