This is one of the situations in life where we can't do anything.

Their cause was lost from the beginning. It was always only a matter of time. If they stay in Z. they will die.
Make friends with one on the internet and encourage them to get out. Eventually the country will starve to death, they'll start killing each other in masses like in Rwanda, and if those that don't kill each other will die of AIDS. Problem solved.
The story that's not being told are the thousands of black farm workers and their families that are displaced when they are thrown off the land with the white farm owner they worked for. They have resorted to living in the woods and foraging. Most are starving. It's a bleak situation.
