Nujoma's Blair comments slammed

Namibia's Congress of Democrats (CoD) said President Sam Nujoma's anti-West attitude and outbursts would do Namibia and Africa great harm, the Namibian News Agency reported.

The opposition party condemned Nujoma for wagging his finger at Tony Blair, the British Prime Minister, condemning the West and Britain in particular, for meddling in the affairs of Africa.

Apart from telling Blair that Britain was the cause of Zimbabwe's ills, Nujoma also told the world during the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) held in Johannesburg, that Africa did not need any aid from Western nations.

"President Nujoma must realise that he cannot sacrifice Namibia on the altar of his close friend and crony, President Robert Mugabe, the way Mugabe has sacrificed and destroyed his country and is making his own people suffer," the CoD said in a statement.

Ignatius Shixuameni, CoD's secretary general, described Nujoma's speech and attitude as anti-democratic, dictatorial, misplaced, misguided and "worrisome to all responsible, democratic patriots of our country."

"These misplaced outbursts and misguided utterances of the president cannot be left unchallenged. Hence, we in the CoD condemn all these irresponsible, anti-democratic and xenophobic utterances and reject them with the contempt they deserve," said Shixuameni.

He further said Nujoma also contradicted Namibia's well-pronounced government policy of attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) by claiming that Africa needed no foreign aid while Namibia received "soft loans" from the very countries he attacked and castigated.

The Young Democrats, CoD youth league, called on Nujoma to stop using colonialism as a scapegoat for his government's failure to deal with burning socio-economic issues in Namibia. - Sapa

Actually, blind pig--->acorn. This guy's right but not for the reasons he thinks. Britain *is* the cause of Zim's problems, they set up Mugabe to begin with. Africa also does *not* need any more capital from the west at this point, let them develop their own resources into their own wealth instead of simply making interest payments on foreign loans...

I completely agree with that assessment. He is right in the same way that Farrakhan is sometimes right.

Welfare enslaves a people and destroys their prospects. It's a fact. There is a big difference between welfare and investment.

Whoopee! Let's take his word for it!
