The Senate Judiciary Committee, in a strict party-line vote, rejected Texas Supreme Court Justice Priscilla Owen for a federal appeals court seat Thursday, handing President Bush a second major defeat in his efforts to put more conservatives in key judgeships.

"I don't think it was doe with any ill will," said Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-South Dakota. "The message is this: We will confirm qualified judges. Don't send us unqualified people." Qualification now equates with Democrat

It is time to Embarass Daschle Via his wifes Big time coporate Lobbying Activities. Especially in South Dakota, so the rub off effect will kill Johnson.

anti-abortion and pro-businessAnd there's something wrong with that?????? This should certainly send a loud signal to the sheeple that the Dims are blatantly partisan and care about extreme left wing causes only. I can't believe the gubmint can take away the rights of parents regarding their minor children in regard to abortion. For every other medical procedure, parents MUST sign legal consent before it can be performed on a minor. This is a blatant power grab by big government; the myth that teen girls are "abused" by angry parents when they become pregnant & therefore should not be required to have their parents' consent has gotten way too much mileage.
Oh, and let's be "anti-business," so good for the economy. Socialism has been proven good for prosperity the world over (sarcasm).
This whole deal makes me speechless. It is such total left wing extremism and Dim voters just don't "see" it, they are ignorant and clueless. I give up.

"I don't think it was doe with any ill will," said Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-South Dakota. BS. We all know why she was not confirmed.
Message to dear little Tommy: What goes around comes around. Payback's a bitch.

Golly. What a shock. I hope W. recess appoints her. Pure speculation here, but I wouldn't be surprised if Dubya just sent Leahy and friends a thank-you note... for just making Cornyn's job a whole lot easier. And there's probably a P.S. at the bottom - something about a recess appointment. :-)

The Republican Senators are royally pissed. They've been pissed before, this time maybe they'll actually do something about it - besides whine.

Yet another excellent justification for a recess appointment.

Hah! Ever single GOP Senator except maybe Jesse Helms is soooo afraid of being called a nasty name by the NY Times that they'll roll over faster than Eleanor Clift when Bill whistles.
I am so sick of this. We get all these namby-pamby, goody-two-shoes like Prisspot Lott who don't realize this is WAR!!! Their whole attitude is, "Well, we don't want to make the democrats mad at us." Ten bucks says Lott will be backslapping Dasshole within 48 hours, saying what a pleasure it is to work with him and what a swell fellow he is. Hard to believe that the only GOPer with a set right now is Ann Coulter.

Not only that, the ABA gave Owen a UNANIMOUS "WELL-QUALIFIED" rating. Tom Daschle has told a bold-faced lie.

I do agree that Cornyn just got a bump in TX, but I'm hoping this will energize lots of grass-roots conservatives in November. It is IMPERATIVE that we retake the Senate.
We have to do everything possible to oust Dems in NJ, SD, MO, and MN.
