In the news, upon hearing of Great Britian's committment to the US, France immediately surrendered.

The French only surrender if an occupying force is available. For the moment, they'd just call for peace (and more arms sales to Iraq)

Ivan, if you'll forgive me for editing Churchill's quote just a little and change the perspective to one from across the pond, I'd like it to read this way:

This then, my ladies and gentlemen, is the message which we send forth today to all states and nations, bound or free, to all the men in all the lands who care for freedom's cause. To our Allies and well-wishers in Israel, to our British friends and helpers drawing ever closer in their might across the ocean, this is the message-lift up your hearts, all will come right. Out of depths of sorrow and sacrifice will be born again the glory of mankind.

I would also like to be on your ping list; I very much appreciate your posts!

The full lyrics:

There'll Always Be An England

There'll always be an England,
While there's a country lane.
Wherever there's a cottage small
Beside a field of grain
There'll always be an England
While there's a busy street.
Wherever there's a turning wheel
A million marching feet.
Red, white and blue
What does it mean to you?
Surely you're proud
Shout it loud
Britons awake!
The Empire too
We can depend on you.
Freedom remains
These are the chains
Nothing can break.

There'll always be an England
And England shall be free
If England means as much to you
As England means to me.

Regards, Ivan

Tony Blair is more faithful to this country than the Democratic leadership in Congress.

Heck, he's more faithful to our country than the average American liberal and some Republican senators.

Wonderful article and even better editing by the bold usage and italics.

The colorful b!tch slap of the sinkmaster was a nice touch.

I truly regret the US didn't do more to help them against Argentina.. not that they needed any help but...

We did a lot for them during the Falklands War. We provided them with virtual open access to our satellite data on the military assets of Argentina. The boys from the UK could handle the rest. Also please note the Queen of England sent specific instructions to the commander of the ship her son, Prince Andrew, was on that he was to be given no special priviliges because of his royal blood. Prince Andrew flew choppers in the war with the same risks as the other chopper pilots. A CLASS ACT.

Mr. Blair is, after all, a man of the left and is taking heat from his backbenchers and membership for his stand. I'd say that the intelligence before Mr. Blair and Mr. Bush on Iraq's capabilities and intentions is a lot scarier than what is public.

As much as I support the Tory cause, Mr. Duncan Smith is not impressing me with his handling of this. Since when did Labour stand more firmly for the defense of the West than the Conservatives???

Ivan,

Between you and Tony, I've developed a downright warm fuzzy feeling towards the Brits.

Best Fregards from the western shore of the pond.
