Lottery May Be Rolled Into Budget Plan

RALEIGH, N.C. -- In a move they concede is risky, House and Senate leaders are considering rolling a lottery proposal into a compromise budget plan.

Legislative leaders cautioned that no final decision had been made, but the strategy was discussed Thursday in closed-door meetings.

Fools! Look at any states that have lotteries and see if they are any more fiscally sound at this time than NC.

Lotteries just provide state legislatures with a new pot of money to dole out to constituents to buy votes.

Eventually, even the lottery pot is depleted, yet the new spending programs funded by the lottery never go away. Taxes are just raised to continue funding them.
