Excellent observation. This nonsense that conservatives all have to be George Will or William F. Buckley hurts us with the average Joe who isn't heavily into politics and suspects all politicians.
Ann Coulter attacks liberals where they live, doesn't attempt to be polite or respectful and uses facts to back up her claims. Yes, she uses hyperbole and this upsets a few dainty conservatives. Too bad. We need a lot less aloof, high-minded responses to liberals amd more direct attacks on what they stand for. Ann is a lady, looks good, writes well and liberals hate her so she is obviously effective. I think that's what scares some 'conservatives'. We might actually win.
You're also right when you say that the language liberals use against conservatives weighs heavily in their favor among the majority of the population. Like it or not, value-laden language works. Liberals have mastered that aspect of politics, and I think we would do well to emulate their tactics.
We do need "more direct attacks on what they stand for." Being polite to our enemies means that we will always be on the defensive, we will never take the offensive. You don't win arguments that way, and you certainly don't win elections that way, either.
Thanks for the reply.
