UN-tenable
By: Jennifer King
The recent so-called Earth Summit provided an interesting glimpse inside the fevered and tortured mind of the average, everyday socialist. One marvels at it - as one would a rare oddity - a three-headed calf or a medieval torture chamber, perhaps. It is eerily fascinating and repulsive at the same time - evoking the same response you have when you see an auto wreck. Youre aghast and horrified, but you cant resist a peek.
Wearing lapel pins proclaiming, What Shall We Do About America?, rotund rabble rousers and UN suits joined forces to discuss world hunger - while feasting on filet mignon and lobster specially flown in by chartered jet. Whizzing past some of Johannesburgs most dismal slums in their air-conditioned limos, they met again to discuss global climate change.
Not to be outdone, Robert Mugabe, the 77 year old tyrannical despot of Zimbabwe, gave an impassioned speech. To applause, Mugabe stated, We wish no harm to anyone. We are Zimbabweans, we are Africans, we are not English, we are not Europeans . . Feel the love - unless youre English or European.
Expressing his further love for humanity, this is the same benevolent Mugabe who is currently leading a murderous campaign to rid his country of its productive white farmers. Mugabe is quite open about his persecution of white Zimbabweans, stating that They do not deserve to be here and They belong in prison. Mugabes attempt to redistribute 95% of white-owned farms has resulted in some 6 million Zimbabweans now facing starvation. Not surprisingly, most of the confiscated farms have not been redistributed to poor black Zimbabweans, but, instead, to cronies of Mugabe - including prized properties going to his wife and sister. Under Mugabes reign of plunder, Zimbabwes economy has shrunk by 28%, inflation stands at 150% and per capita income has been halved.
Mugabe, who has become an increasingly harsh master since installed as the first leader of an independent Zimbabwe in 1980, also typically blamed Zimbabwes woes on neo-colonialism. Neurotically, Mugabe posits the theory that Zimbabwes suffering is due to anger in the white world because Mugabe is taking them on.
Bizarre, unfathomable. Yet Mugabes words bear a certain resonance - we have heard them before, out of the mouths of irredeemable leftists and Islamofascists worldwide. Saudi Arabias a backward dictatorship that keeps its women virtually imprisoned and its citizens poor while the princes live in opulence? Blame it on the West, you capitalist running dog pigs - and give us some more of that tainted money while youre at it.
The twisted U.N. mindset which promulgates such drivel is based on a psychotic distortion of reality. The deconstructionists have won, at least in the fetid swamps of the Lefts imagination.
Thus, Colin Powell is booed, but Robert Mugabe is feted. Libya - home of murderous Marxist thug Moamarr Khadaffi, violator of the human rights of thousands - is placed on the U.N.s Human Rights Council. Mr. Felipe Perez Roque from communist Cuba, can blithely state, consumer societies are fundamentally responsible for the brutal destruction of the environment and no one blinks an eye. Despite the truth being the exact opposite. So, logically - or, more accurately, illogically - neo-colonialism is to blame for the poverty and deprivation of the Third World. Corrupt, tyrannical dictators who live in luxury by pocketing Western aid dollars have nothing to do with it.
The cognitive disconnect is complete, and the brains of the addled Left have pickled in their propaganda far too long to be redeemed. The U.N. has become the home for disaffected communists, deluded socialists and ecofreaks who view humanity as lice upon the earth. Since they hate the West so much, we should send them out of that degraded capitalist city of New York and into one of the utopian paradises they sing the praises of. Zimbabwe, anyone?
This is Ethnic Cleansing, but acceptable to the UN.
If there can be no rehabilitation, there remains only incarceration. Works for me.
Love that pic of you with the hat. I'm a Mad Hatter myself, particularly on bad hair days in the Florida heat and humidity.
Hope to see you at a future freep, maybe when we hit the bricks to Reno-vate (if she wins the primary, that is).
Leni
