Yes, and keep your kids out of public schools where they'll be told that the attacks were OUR fault!

Certainly not in all public schools......but then there is California!! My elementary school in Pinellas County,FL will be discussing character traits during our "American Character Week" (9/9-9/13). On 9/11 we will be wearing red, white and blue, and will also having a moment of silence at 8:45AM in honor of those who died on 9/11/01. We begin every school day with a patriotic song (new one each month) and pledge which is done school wide. On 9/17, Constitution Day, we are wearing red, white and blue, and also joining in on the "Pledge Across America" at 2:00PM. The children will be learning about our Constitution and what it means to live in a free country. The week of 9/23-9/27 is our "Celebrate Freedom Week", and the children will be learning about the Declaration of Independence during this week (at all grade levels K-5), and the first section of the Declaration will be recited over our "morning news" prior to our daily patriotic song and pledge. Visit your local schools and see what they have planned for "Liberty Month - Sept.2002"!

My daughter is in third grade and attends a public school.

Since kindergarten I have been very pleased with this particular school. They say the Pledge of Allegiance every day, with every word included. Last year they were great in the aftermath of 9/11.

My favorite was the special assembly for Veteran's Day where the Girl Scouts presented the Colors and the teachers who were veterans spoke. Throughout the program was patriotic music with different grades leading the singing.

This year I have been informed that a moment of silence will be observed. My daughter told me that they will be writing why they are proud to be an American.

I want to add, that you are correct in your concern about many of our public schools.

I read with dismay the "suggestions" by the NEA and their blame America rhetoric.

My previous post was just to say that some public schools get it right.

Odd. My wife teaches 6th grade English and in her public school they will start the day by surrounding the school, saying the Pledge and singing the National Anthem and God Bless America. They will then have a program honoring a local fireman, a County Commissioner who taught school for 30 years, a nine year school board member also with 30 years in the schools, a DARE officer, a lady who started a foundation to get CHRISTMAS gifts to poor kids, and a former Gunnery Sgt who served in Desert Storm.

I missed the OUR FAULT part, but will ask.
