We're supposed to prop Mugabe up after killing off the agricultural sector which gave his country most of its foreign exchange and fed the nation. Meanwhile, Mugabe and Nujoma insult Blair and Britain at Jo'burg.

What part of "go to hell" does the UN not understand? These countries chose to be independent, they chose to run themselves into the ground - it's about time they understood the pain of being socialist and stupid.

Regards, Ivan

which aid agencies partly blame on President Robert Mugabe's seizure of land

Partly blame? PARTLY blame? What sort of ridiculous statement it that?

...now Ivan, be a good chappie and turn down the volume of colour on that union jack. Have pity on my delicate state ;-)

Mugabe better watch his six. When his people get tired of starving they might realize that he is to blame.

It's hungry work out there killing whites, stabbin' whites, shootin' whites, snortin' whites, robbin' whites, rapin' whites. But don't give me none of that GM crap -- I'd rather (my people) starve. Funny how ya just can't eat land.

It's RACIST, I TELL YA! This corn grew for whitey but it won't grow for me. Must be part of the world-wide white supremecist conspiracy.

The UN demands the propping up of the worst dicatorial regimes in the name of humanitarianism. However, those who provide massive amounts of aid are constantly criticized, denigrated, and extorted. This mindset is no longer tenable. Long live unilateralism!

Here's an idea. Let's get rid of Mugabe and all his thugs, put the farmers who are still alive back on their own farms; THEN FEED THE PEOPLE OF ZIMBABWE ASAP!

"...up to 13 million people face famine in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho."

If that number of people, are not willing or capable of taking up sticks, stones and knives -- to kill the bastards running their country, that want them to die - then perhaps they will die.

How long should the world continue to feed the subjects of political systems that bring these disasters upon themselves - and look at us in the West as the enemy, until they need a handout or a free meal... Tough..

Morris and Annan and the other UNers working so hard in Africa are desperate to have the west and, especially, the US bail out Zimbabwe. Their bribes, payments, kickbacks and gifts of choice property from Mugabe depend on Mugabe being able to save money that might have to be spent on outside food. For every ton of food the UNers can extort from the rest of the world, they get baskets of cash. Mugabe, of course, gets off the hook for his responsibility. For every child in Zimbabwe who starves, Mugabe will blame the US, no matter how much food we give. The UNers will stand by, very quietly, playing with the cash in their pants and not answering any criticism of the US but never saying an unkind word about their benefactor.

Cake. Let them eat cake, until Mugabe is dead or in exile.

Don't forget, we already offered them free corn, which they turned down because it's genetically enhanced. Then these UN pukes booed Colin Powell for daring to mention it. Beggars, it seems, can be choosers when it comes to the UN.

This is a planned famine, plain and simple. If it were solely a land grab, Mugabe would have at least allowed the white farmers to plant a "farewell crop" to be taken over and harvested by the blacks who received the stolen land. Or, Mugabe could have allowed a gradual transition of ownership over a period of years to ensure the farms kept producing and that the new owners were capable of running them.

Instead, he ordered the white farmers to cease all planting and began evicting them ASAP. He's either an evil SOB bent on starving his own people into submission or an incompetent fool who couldn't hold down a minimum wage job in the free world if he tried. I think he's mostly the former.

He doesn't want GM corn (or any corn in abundance for that matter). He wants just enough to feed his cronies, army, and supporters. Then he wants the rest in cold hard cash to squirrel away in his Swiss bank account for the inevitable day when he's chased out of Zimbabwe. Someday, we'll all read about poor misunderstood, exiled Mugabe, living lavishly in the Bahamas on the millions in aid that never made it to his, by then, long dead and gone starved people.

What disgusts me the most about all this is that we'll most likely end up giving aid to this Marxist b@st@rd and his "deserving of a Darwin Award" idiot countrymen who put him in power in the first place. Hey, all you morons in Zimbabwe, did it ever occur to you that if your government can steal land from whites, that your government can steal land from blacks, too? Or are you too greedy to think that far ahead? Marxism appeals to the greedy and the covetous more than Capitalism ever could.

So, the black majority in Zimbabwe got what they coveted: the white farmers' land. And now, millions of them will be buried in it.
