"Let me just add that there are plenty of reasons to be proud to be an American. And these heroes -all of them are heroes for what they did on that day- are one of the greatest reasons. Ossama thought he could defeat us. He was wrong just as anybody else who tries will find out."

My sentiments exactly.

Billie. . . I prepared my picture for this thread about 5 a.m., knowing I had a busy, hectic day ahead of me. I got to the thread and see that we are having a week of remembrance and  prayers. I thought well, this picture isn't appropriate. Then I changed my mind. . . this peaceful country scene is a reminder of what a wonderful country we live in, some of what we have that is worth fighting to preserve.

God bless America, land of the free, home of the brave. . .

Kay, thank you for alerting me to this thread. Billie and JohnHuang, beautiful writing and graphics. I don't get to this thread as often as I'd like, but want to make the time this week. Nothing is more important than remembering. We honor them by remembering them. Lodwick, I was doing okay until you posted the beautiful Twin Towers picture. Now I'm all weepy -- I'll probably be gushing like a fire hydrant by Wednesday.

Good grief, I'm alrady bawlng after reading this thread, and It's only just beginning. Soon as I realized what I was seeing in the beautiful picture of Uncle Sam holding Lady Liberty, the dam broke.

It will be an emotional week. I love my country and grieve for Her fallen...he helpless targets of evil, the heroes who've given their lives willingly.

A year ago, a voice at the other end of phone woke me up to tell me an airplane had hit the WTC. I knew, soon as I understood it was a passenger jet, that bin Laden had hit us.

Holed up at home for the week, following foot surgery the previous Thursday, I was glued to the news, in shock.

Every moment of that day, I was grateful to God that He and history had given us Dubya and his posse to be the ones on watch when this evil deed was done.

A year later, I am 365 times more enraged and ready for revenge and justice than I was that terrible morning.

A year later, I'm still crying from all the sadness.

My faith in and hope for America, this land that I love, is a fire that burns fierce and bright in my heart.

Bless and thank all you Freepers who've kept me informed, inspired, become my family and neighbors.

Go Dubya, kick some ass fer all of us.

Morning, Dave. I know it's going to be a week full of 911 Memorials, graphics, etc. I hope we see a lot of them right here, but John's outstanding essay is worth EVERYONE'S time to read, whether it be today or any of the other days this week. We just knew that Business as Usual probably wouldn't be fair to any profilee this week, as it isn't on holidays or weekends.
