Beautifully stated -- your words reflect the thoughts and sentiments of all of us.

Good morning, kay. I knew the tribute would be very emotional and moving - and wasn't sure exactly how I was going to design this......until I got his essay yesterday morning. Then the graphics we'd already used several times just seemed to fit his words. The red candle is the only one I had to upload yesterday!

Thank you, Free. One of my favorite Christmas presents last year was a silver bracelet with the name of one of the victims of the Trade Center engraved on it. I still wear it every time I leave the house.

Thank you both for this poignant memorial.
This will be a hard, sad week, but it is my hope and prayer that through our recollections of the terrorist attack a year ago, our nation's resolve will be strengthened and fortified and that it will carry us, our leaders and our military through what we MUST do.
We must continue our war against terrorism, we must support our President and we must NEVER FORGET!
God's blessing upon the loved ones of the victims of 9/11, the heroes who came forth to aid and assist, our President, and our military who are called upon to go into harm's way to fight for our liberty.
To: .45MAN
Thank you, .45MAN. Our President is only getting tougher and tougher as time goes on. We won't forget, nor will he quit, until the last terrorist has been found and dealt with. If there's anything to be thankful for, it is that George W. Bush is in our big White House during this time, though as John wrote in his essay, we might not be dealing with this IF we had had a president, not a playboy, for the previous 8 years.

What a nice post and tribute to FR itself! It was unbelievable, the traffic! and the information that was there to be read. It was overwhelming. Thank you so much for FR, Jim.

You're welcome. I live in McLennan County near Waco and Wednesday many area business will lower the Texas flag and raise the flag of New York to half mast in a show of solidarity and to reiterate that we all became New Yorkers on 9/11.
My small town has a beautiful arboretum and on 9/11 the entire community will turn out to plant a flag in the ground with a personal message and victim's name. Wednesday this area will be a field of flags:

I thank JohnHuang, for there is no way I could have put this together without his excellent writing! And initially, it was Ken5050 who set the wheels in motion for this thread. Daisy and MamaBear and I had mulled over what exactly we would do for 911. Ken and John took the indecision away!

Beautiful memorial today, Billie!! We will
never forget!!
Short update on Eric for my FRiends at FR's Finest.......
He was in class last week at AIT in Ft. Lee, VA, and an officer came into the classroom and asked who had their Class B uniforms in shape, and who would like to volunteer for something......but didn't say what.
In spite of the general Army rule to never volunteer for anything, Eric raised his hand.
Later in the week he was told that he would be going to the NASCAR race in Richmond on Saturday to participate in a special 9/11 ceremony. He loves racing, so he was thrilled!!
When they got there Saturday afternoon, they were sitting in an amphitheatre waiting, and 14 of them (Eric included) were selected to be flag holders during the national anthem!
They had a giant flag that they unfurled while the anthem was being sung, and he stood between 2 NYC policemen, who were heroes of 9/11 (there were firefighters there too)! At the end four F-16 jets flew overhead! (It was on TNT Saturday night, and we taped it, and we can actually see that it's Eric!)
He told me yesterday on the phone, that last September 11, he never dreamed that in less than a year, he would be representing the Armed Forces of his country in a special ceremony honoring the brave men and women who sacrificed so much on September 11. He said he had tears in his eyes, and goosebumps all over because it was such a thrill!!
He also told me that he would go to Iraq in a heartbeat if he is called, because it is so clear to him that he is exactly where God wants him to be.
I am so proud of this kid!!
Oh......and one more thing.....he said that when they marched in formation singing their cadences, the crowd went wild with cheers and chants of USA!! I LOVE the renewed patriotism in this great country!!!
