Rick Gosselin, the DMN NFL beat writer, is no slouch himself.Just too bad that his hometown team is composed of a bunch of players who shouldn't even be playing on an NFL team.

I grew up and am still a Giants fan but Johnny Hightops was the best quarterback I ever saw and one of the toughest sob's to ever strap it on.
Godspeed Mr. Unitas, it was a pleasure watching you play the game the way it was meant to be played.

Really? I'm surprised too. He sure was a good quarterback.

The problem in his hometown is the NFL owner/GM. No normal coach and/or GM will work for him - sigh.

Remember Chuck Thompson announcing the games on CBS-TV?
When the Colts were home it was "Welcome to the world's largest outdoor insane asylum."
Digging up very old memories here. Is that right?

I was surprised to hear on CNN that he had to file bankruptcy at one point in his life. Well, true to form they are.
On 9/11/02 a sports hero dies. Granted that sports heroes should rank well below the heroes of 9/11/01. But, this pack of demon infested media whores simply MUST take a shot at Johnny U.
I am more sad that angry at CNN.

Montana does come closest, and its because of competitive drive. Some quibbles in his "Franken-Back"....gimme the touch of Stabler over Marino, the arm of Bradshaw over Favre, the swagger of Fouts over Namath, though Joe had a helluva arm too ;-)
But note what Johnny U had and for so long, was composure. He was poised and calm while Butkus came bearing down. And he took a pounding.Hats off to the best and a class act all the way!
